our prayers are with you, and have faith, they do incredible things in hospitals and clinics every day, curing people who, just a short time ago would have been lost.

    I wish you peace.
Exactly! You did the right thing by getting her to see the doctor right away. I am sorry to hear about another family trial for yours but keep the faith and the spiritual course. My prayers thoughts are with your wife Tasha so God may protect her as he promised to protect all of us. My prayers and thoughts are also with you Dan so that you may be strong for the both of you.

You got it man, prayers and best wishes for your wife. I'll have a long conversation with the man upstairs this evening. God Bless buddy. Be hopeful, be strong.
I have to admit I might neglected to talk to dad up above lately so this gives me the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with him again.

Prayers sent your way. Even if it does turn out the worst (brain tumor) don't give up hope. I know someone who has had a brain tumor and surgery and has been living problem free for many years. I truly hope this is not the case for her and it's just severe stress but no matter what don't lose hope.

Agreed, medicine has improved quite a bit in the past decenny. I understand your shock but just keep in mind the Doc's duty is to tell you from the least problem to the worse but it far from means the worse will happen. Just take it one day at the time.

Here's to hoping 2011 turns course for you and your wife!
I am praying for better days for you and yours in 2011. You had trials in 2010 and kept the faith and attitude strong and God be our withness, you and your family deserve God's protection and love from now on.
She is on 60mg of Prednisone, Vikodin and 3 Advil for the next few days.

Hopefully if its an infection the Prednisone will fix it, otherwise we will see.

It will be what it will be, I just want her to be ok.

Not pushing for the CT yet, want to see what med's do to it
Don't overlook the CT as they usually provide for some insurance/reassurance. Since I was hospitalized early last year, CTs have become some like bi-yearly routine for me. Gives me the peace of mind and if any was to occur, it would more likely allow me to know early enough for Doctors to react quicly.

Prayers sent. Extreme back pain will cause headaches and migraines. Has she seen a chiropractor? Sometimes a realignment of the spinal column can really help. Good health starts with a healthy spine.

    Joe
Hum, I think I should take your advice Joe, seen Doctors, natural medice, physio and yet the chiropractor is the only treathment I didn't go through.

get a CAT scan.. had a friend die suddenly from a bad headache... turned out to be a brain hemmorage.. there was nothing they could do for her... we miss her of course. but started as a bad headache.

hope your wife is ok.. prayers sent to you and her
Again, CAT scan will provide you both some reassurance and help for early diagnosis. Fact is I just booked my next CAT scan today for May 24th ;)

For now, my personal experience leads me to suggest you just go 1 day at the time, panicking, stressing out will not help her in any way and will just make in worse for her if you just get your self sick. Don't forget where you come from. Again, praying for you Dan and your wife Tasha. May God protect you both and surround you with his deep love.

    All the best!

She has had one good day so far. Shes trying to get ahold of her Dr. and see what they want her to do since it did go away for a bit. The Dr. she saw on Tues wasnt her normal doctor but one of her partners. I am not sure how much she looked up her family history or her old charts.

Apparently my wifes family has a history of severe migraines to the point a couple of her grandparents had to get shots every 2 weeks to keep them from coming.....

The headaches seem to have been leaving her alone until later in the day and then build up into a massive deal by the time she gets home. Then shes got about 2 hours before she just goes to sleep its soo bad...

She has another back doctor appointment on Monday at 9:15. I am assuming since the back injection didnt work they will want to do an MRI to see if her disc's are worse than before, shifted position, ect.

From there we will see if they want another round of injections or are thinking surgery....

Been trying to keep myself a little busy so I dont stress out about either since in our relationship I am the one that has to be strong (even if inside I am losing it :frown:)....

Has she tried a chiropractor yet? The last thing you want is surgery so try and avoid that.

She hasnt and its on my list of questions to ask, but with her basically having a totally dissolved disc and another ruptured one I am not sure what good a chiro can do... but open to all options....

A chiro is non-invasive, and in your situation I'd start with this first. The reason I mentioned chiropractic care is because in my current "quest" for fitness I went to see a chiro and learned a lot about how the spine affects everything else in the body, and so all this info is fresh in my mind.

My wife and I are now both seeing the chiropractor for a series of adjustments.

A chiro will start with a series of health questions and some x-rays. After that he'll discuss the results with you and suggest a course of treatments if he feels there is anything he can do to help. He may even confirm that the problem is past phase 3 or that she does in fact need an operation.

All I'm saying is that you need to exhaust all avenues of treatment before making the decision to go under the knife.

I won't get into it now but many years ago I was at that point where they wanted to operate on my back. I refused and sought alternative methods instead, and I can honestly say that it saved my life.

With damaged discs a chiro can only cause more damage. They can't heal anything.

Sometimes surgury is the only option. I had a double ACDF last year, I wouldn't say I'm 100% recovered, probably never will be, but I'm way better off than before surgury.

X-rays don't show disc damage, or any soft tissue such as the spinal cord or nerves, and are fairly useless for diagnosing spinal issues. She needs an MRI. Keep in mind that chiropractors are not doctor's, not even close.

Witch Doctor would be a more accurate description.

And as William said, X-Rays really do not go into detail as far as back/neck injuries, a MRI is needed.

    Update:

We spent the weekend back and head pain free. I got things confused and she had a back dr. appointment this morning (no CT/Cat scans) but she overslept so she is going to reschedule.

She is still trying to get ahold of her regular doctors office to find out what follow up they want for her headache problems.....even though it seems to have cleared up...

So thank you guys (and of course the big man upstairs) very much for the prayers since it looks like it might have made a difference!
