ok so say i wanna keep the sub i have....which i do... could i get away with a 10 ....or what?? ....what would compliment the mirage nicely ?? say there is a 500 dollar budget ??should i look for another 150i ??
My suggestion would be to keep the mirage and run your mains through it so that they can be full range which will take a lot of pressure off of whatever sub you get. As for a second sub, I had an ed A3-300 for a bit, it runs 600 shipped, and it sounded incredible on the chase scene on the Dark Knight bd for instance. Definitely could go where my bps-150i could not, and put a smile on my face. I can't even imagine how good it would sound with both subs at the same time :eek:Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es
Game Room 5.1.4: Denon AVR-X4200w; Sony UBP-x700; Definitive Technology Power Monitor 900 mains, CLR-3000 center, StudioMonitor 350 surrounds, ProMonitor 800 atmos x4; Sub - Monoprice Monolith 15in THX Ultra

If you can spend $500 then surely an additional $200 won't hurt the bank too bad. I'd go for the Epik Empire. With dual 15's it would be enough in that room for sure, they look great too.

Currently got a mirage bps150i and it does ok most of the time but when I'm watching blu rays and the big explosion scenes happen it just doesn't sound realistic.....even muddy at times on the really low stuff ....is that because it isn't enough sub ??
I was considering one ?500$one? the salesman said mirage makes a more musical sub by that it has good bass in more areas than a lot of other subs , like its range is 40-120 hz and sounds good ( I hope that makes sense ) ..
But if you want a sub that will rattle windows (including the neighbors )
you would be happier with another brand .
I am not saying anything bad about mirage its great stuff, but in my case I want realism of a explosion or a helicopter landing in my room .
I dont mind adjusting my pictures or catching a glass walk off the table in fact I like it -

That epic looks like a great deal , I couldnt build that for less money !! -
That Epik is a lot of sub for the money! If that is still too much the SVS SB12-NSD looks like an alternative closer to your price range.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
