So as per a previous thread I think my RTI-a9 tweets or crossovers are on the way out.

I played an MP3 at a high volume level. Didn't realize it was one of those crappily 0db-normalized tracks so that may have done it though I have blasted it on many other speakers/systems before with no issue. Amp can really push so no fear of amp clipping

Essentially what i hear now are clicks/pops in many rock and vocal tracks and some classic blown tweeter sound during sweeping notes

Polk has advised me to to take them to a local shop as crossovers may be at fault.

What can I expect? Do they fix them and send polk the bill? Do I pay and get reimbursed?

Also does it happen that crossovers blow out on very new speakers?
I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I thought the warranty was five years...

The warranty doesnt say void if you play "one of those crappily 0db-normalized tracks"

Maybe I'm wrong...check for yourself. Gotta get more coffee..

Sorry, I'm awake now.Y0u have to get that straightened out with Polk and no one else.
No one else's opinion on the way it aught to be means squat if Polk refuses to cover this.
I don't see that happening though.
Just get the ok first with their recommended repair place and details on how the bill get paid/reimbursed.
Ive been burned before by warranty places, (nikon) and don't trust anyone.
    good luck
