Are you running the Kappa 9s set with the extended bass? It is my understanding when the speakers are set to extended bass is when the ohms can drop to 1 or less.

I have a pair of Kappa 9 speakers also. I have Adcom GFA 565 mono blocs which I had been using to drive them. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of the Kappas driven by these amps. I also have a pair of Pioneer HPM 200 speakers which I had been driving with a Sunfire Load Invariant amp. This morning, I switched amps and speakers. Been listening to the HPMs driven by the Adcoms. Initial impression is the Adcoms sound very nice with the HPMs.
