I ordered 3 new Audioquest NRG-2 power cables today. 2 x 3 ft and 1 x 6 ft cable.

I have been doing some minor upgrades of late and things are starting to come together.
. In January purchased RTiA9's and external AMP
. Upgraded my turntable cartriddge from a Ortofon 2M Red to a Ortofon 2M Blue
. Upgraded my SACD and AMP cables (9 in total) to Atlas Equator MK II RCA interconnects (Atlas is a Scotish company) .

...now working on the power cords; from advice on here and using the search function, I will be using the cords on my AMP, AVR and TV.

As you can see I am flirting with the entry level/ 2nd tier products with my interconnects and cables.

IMO my system is lower/mid level, so I am trying to get the best out of what I have and can afford on a fixed income.
(Retired military in mid 90's; In December I quit my other job of ten years to relax for a little bit)

Having fun listening to records and tinkering with the system. Will let you all know how the power cords work out.

*Any thoughts on if a power cord upgrade would benefit a Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S770 player and an HD DVD player? What about a TV PVR cable box?

Thanks for reading, Greg

If possible I would like to hear your comments on the 3 footer vs the 6 footer on the same gear. Ideally this would be the piece that had the most audible difference.
    Enjoy.

Will let all know how they work and if they make a differance in my set-up. Will also swap out the 6ft and 3 ft to see the changes if any.

    Looking forward to them arriving.

Recieved the cables yesterday and gave them a listen today.

I tried to hear a difference between the 6ft and the 3ft cords and could not. There is no hum, extra noise or unwanted sounds from either the 3ft or the 6ft. I swapped them around on both my Sony ES reciever and Emotiva Amp for testing.

I ended up using the 6ft on my SVS sub woofer, and the 3fts on the Sony ES receiver and Emotiva AMP.

My opinions are even subjective to me! :)

So what does Greg think of the power cord upgrade?
    -clearer sound
    -more definition
-assisted in cleaning up weak signal to equipment
-cleaned up the area behind the stereo with shortened lenghts

I tested the TV and the SACD player and phono. My system was hum and nosie free and the new power cords have not added any unwanted sounds to my system.

The most noticeable benefit came from my actual wiring in the house. I have old wiring and when the microwave, and fridge both are on at the same time my APC 10 would boost the voltage to all my equipment if I was watching TV/movie or listening to music.
I would hear a click and the line boost light would come on. After one of the applicances would shut off, the APC would go back to normal state. (not the ideal situation, but out of my control)
With the addition of the two 3ft cables to the reciever and amp it no longer occurs. I noticed it before I had swapped out the sub power cable.

So, Greg is a happy camper with his cable upgrades.

I got the 3fts new in box for 74.98 USD each and the 6ft new in box for 109.98 USD, cost me $25.00 for shipping for all 3 from States to Canada.
