Ricardo, you made an assumption that I would probably not find gear that I may like based on suggestions. It's not about that. A discussion of audio gear at any price point is what this forum is all about,no? I like inexpensive gear for all that it accomplishes just as much as I like what the high end stuff does. Ears are great which is why I have the speakers I want but not the gear I want. Having input from all sides is what makes this forum so great. There are so many people with WAYYYYYYYY more experience than I here. That is the main reason I came out of the woodwork. I can spout off name brands like there is no tomorrow but the technical stuff I am still learning on and will always strive to learn more. If one thinks they know it all then they can go join the Bose crowd imo. This is what I thought you may be missing in understanding my quote.

Now, can we please for the love of 'insert a pic from Keiko here' move on to the topic at hand. Maybe I need to add a part 2 to this discussion and ask about if speaker cables make a difference. Then maybe we can get back on track for audio.:smile:

If I have 40K to spend, I just bring a check book with me and go shopping around. Anyone can suggest what is good for them. But no one can say what is good for you.

It's an experience that matters so enjoy your journey. But frankly, I would listen to other speakers outside of B&W. Have you heard Open Baffle Dipole speakers like Maggie or Quad or Martin Logan? By all means, B&W is what you are dead set on, get a pair of Vitus Monobloc or Luxman Class A Monobloc.

What source and preamp are you using with your Classe or your newly arriving SimAudio amps? In Classe line, the newer CAM-400 or CAM-600 should make an improvement over CA-400 you have.

But if you going reference route, start looking at the reference line only and stop wasting time. I guess 40K will buy you a pair of cables if you are serious.

I know I should have stayed behind the scenes here. I now see why some of the most respected members here have moved on to greener pastures. Most of what I see at this site is bickering, cable debates, amp debates, and other worthless crap. I will take Megasat16 advice and move on to further this setup. This thread turned out to be more about my money and budget than the topic at hand. Most here don't have a pot to piss in or live paycheck to paycheck. What was I thinking asking the "help". All the suggestions that were made I did check into and even more. So sad to see this forum in this condition. I remember not to long ago that this was THE place to be. Not so anymore. And to those who respond..........I will never be back here so whatever you say will fall on deaf ears/eyes. Oh, and if the door hits me on the way out, I LIKE IT THAT WAY!!

Once you decided on those speakers, I knew you were beyond help. They're absolutely awful.

Ok! experience that the high end expensive brand name takes synergy seriously and they have matched their components to sound good.

    QUOTE]

I know my MIT Cables is a perfect match for my Polk 1.2's. I heard positive results even before the break in.the first day out of the box. ("synergy") sometimes I wonder, can I make my system sound any better.

I agree with the above statement.but, one point I like to make.sure, people can say, what's good for you(you don't have to agree with it),but the bottom line is,you have to decide what sounds good to you.do you like a lot of bass, treble? maybe adding a subwoofer will help,or a super twitter, for added highs. I have a friend on here that says,he doesn't need a subwoofer..after listening to his system,I think it would sound better with a sub.but,he doesn't listen to James Brown, rap, or really hard rock stuff like I do.Therefore, his system is "FINE" just the way it is,and it's a 5star system. He listen with his own ears not mine. this is a Hobbie where selfishness is allowed. it's your money and ears. Some men like women with junk in the trunk, you get the point?

That's alot of room. But given the budget and media preference, this is what I'd put in there:

    VTL 2.5 preamp
    VTL MB-450 mono blocks

    Esoteric X-01D2 multi player

    KISS

furniture and room treatment would depend on room finish.

If you could provide some pictures of the space and finish details, I might be able to help you there.

I would suggest you take a look at Usher amps.
    I have a model R1.5.
There are others in the line as well..ithink an R2.5.
These amps are built like a tank.
Mine weighs in at 88 pounds!!!
They are built to the specs of the old Threshold amps that sold for 13k.
    Reads some reviews..
The price is right..could save you a few grand to spend on your TT, CDP, pre amp.

Does anyone from Polk monitor this?

Business moves through recommendations. This person obviously wasn't interested in purchasing anything Polk if he had a budget of $40k. But, I'd bet he has friends that can't spend $40k. How much business was lost because of the responses given to this person - maybe not much but some was. At some point every business has to find ways to make the money spread effeciently and this forum is obviously not one of those ways.

Wouldn't it have been nice if this person left here with positive thoughts about Polk? Instead, not only will he never buy anything made by Polk but he will never recommend this brand to any of his friends nor acquantances.

I'd like to say I'm proud to be a member here but I'm not. I have found good people here but there is way more chaff here than wheat.

Someday Polk will end this forum and no one will be to blame except the members. :frown:

Obviously, Polk forum is unlike many other forums, it is not here to make money.

In your right mind, why does this person left with negative thoughts? I don't see why he should at all.

Polk forum has been threatened to be shut down by the management many times in the past if you don't know already. It might happen for sure one day.

Blame member? Sure. You can. People are people. They'll bicker and argue anywhere. Polk forum is no exception to this rule.

The world is FLAT. Keep walking and you'll fall into nothingness.

Do what makes sense while walking and still being something.

How about I just follow your lead and sit on my butt and let it all go by?

I'll accept this mess as standard and set my expectations accordingly.

    You are right, of course.
