Going to school and you want you came here to look at speakers....good luck with that, this place will empty your wallet faster than the tax man!
Welcome to the forum. What instrument do you play? -
I play tenor saxophone in my high school jazz band, we actually just had a concert at a jazz festival, I'm the first saxophone soloist.

Welcome, I was in your position at one point. I had no idea what I really wanted but I had big taste. After slowly starting out at the middle ground of equipment and working up I have what I have today. I am still not done but I am working on it.
I will warn you this hobby gets expensive quick so always look for a deal and do not be afraid to make a thread asking about a product or guidance if you do not know. I would advise saving CASH and using that for your hobby as aposed to credit cards where you can get in trouble like I did a few years back.
Welcome and hope we can help you out.

thanks newrival! q lot of times the soundguys don't mic me well but you can actually hear it this time.
My plan is to never let this hobby become too expensive. I've seen people waste away tens of thousands of dollars on stereo equipment. You can get something for 1,000 dollars that just sounds phenomenal, my opinion is that if you want to hear music that sounds even better, go see a live concert instead of never getting out of the house and spending a fortune on stereo. I recently went to the estate sale of an audiophile who was a schitozophrenic hoarder... it was incredibly depressing.
