I am in search of a CS1000P to replace my existing center. Anybody willing to part with one or know of anyone who might be?

    IMO, you would be better off with the CS400. I have the 1000 and used to have the 400. I like the 1000 a lot, but it really isn't much better than the 400. With your 55's and proper bass management, the 400 will sound perfect with your system. I think there are a couple of 400's on ebay now. Good Luck! Jeff

    After buying the CS245 instead of the CS400 a few years ago and regreting it ever since, I wanted to go all out this time. In addition to the CS1000p and CS400, I have also considered the CS350. Opinions?

    CSi40 with a split output to a pair of RTi38 wired through a SVS PCi 25-w/e. ;)

    I think having subwoofers in a center is overkill, "UNLESS" you have a very large room and need the extra impact and power.. even then that is why you have a sub and mains.. the cs400 is a HUGE center and i only like 1 speaker as much and that's my csi40 i have owned both, like both..

    Faster were about to have Identical(sp) systems. Except for the rear center. I might need that...:confused: Will have to see when it is all setup.

    Well, I am going to have weird surround placement. So I might have a gap in the rear soundstage so I may need one. I will have to see also. Can't wait for the RTi70.

    I have the 400i and the 350. While the 350 looks better, the 400 sounds better.

    I replaced my 350 with the 1000p. It made a HUGE (positive) impact on my system. Movie dialogue was noticibly clearer. I have never spent much time audibly comparing the 400 with the 1000p, so I really can't comment there. However, it seems to come down to a money issue. I got mine for less than $500 from this forum and have been extremely happy with my purchase.

    I've little doubt the 1000p can outperform the 400. The issue with the 1000p though is the "p".

    If one sets up his HT with the speakers set to small, the 1000p is a waste.

    On the other hand, at $200 each a pair of 400's would be fairly competitive with the 1000p, at a lower cost.

    I have 55's for my mains as well and used a CS-300 for 2 years until I heard a friends '400'.

    What a difference. Big Time

    The 400 or 400i (same spkrs., different colored drivers) makes all the difference in the world and matches perfectly with the 55's.

    The CS-400, at 32lbs. is a big speaker. (3lbs. shy of the 55)

    As mentioned, the speakers are perfectly matched.
    Both the 55's and the 400 have the same 6 1/2" drivers and 1" Tri-laminate tweeters.

    It's be best to have another channel of amplification available to run two 400's, but being as they are 8 ohm two in wired parallel may present a manageable load to your Denon. Consult your manual.
