Need help mounting f/x500i or FXi50 to ceiling mounts

I've always had my surrounds (f/x500i) mounted on the wall behind me. Now I'm getting a new receiver (STR-DA4ES), and need to put my surrounds to the side since the surround backs will be behind me. Here' sthe deal: When sitting, I have a slide-glass door to the left and a door to the right. What speaker mount does everyone recommend? I need a ceiling mount. My concern is the f/x500i have 5 points of contacting the wall (4 feet and the mounting plate). If you hang the surrounds from the ceiling, will it put too much strain on the mounting plate? I have 16" from the ceiling to the top of the door. The fx500i is a little over 15"...so if I can ceiling mount it close to the ceiling, the door should open under it. If not, I need to rig up some kind of track system, where the surround on the right side can slide parallel with the wall away from the door when it needs to be opened.
Any suggestions on a good ceiling mount? I've looked on the internet, and I can't tell if they are designed to fit the key holes for the fx500i or not.
Any help is seriously appreciated!!

Personally and professionally this is a bad move.I don't think it's a good Idea to mount them off the ceiling. They are designed to be mounted on the wall. But here's what you should do.....
Sell them and buy inceiling speakers from Polk.Inceiling speakers are great for surround duty. You could take it a step further and do all 4 surround speakers in the ceiling. You will have the ability to place them perfectly.
polk might have new inceiling models out,or simply use whats avalible now........Rc series

This is just a temporary thing until I get my new place. Has anyone ever gone house hunting and turned down a perfectly good house because the H/T room isn't gonna work for you.
They won't be hanging from the ceiling for too long, but I'm not replacing them...I like 'em too much.-Bryan

I personally wouldn't ceiling mount those speakers. They have alot of weight, for a small bracket, and even if they did work for awhile....time will work a toll on them...or your sheetrock...either way, I am not comfy with mounting weight on construction I did not personally install.
That is just a subjective view. Wall mount if at all possible, otherwise, honestly I agree w/ Mantis on the IN ceiling type speaker. I have heard they sound really nice. Keep in mind that they will need some work for behind them, but there are a couple of pre-fab solutions available.
I also think that you will have a lower resale value if you drill mounts into your speaker. You then are looking for a specific buyer, as opposed to a general buyer if you modify them.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Ok, what about this: How far forward can you place your surround speakers? The illustration for the side mount shows the surrounds directly in line with the person's head. Would it hurt if they were forward 1-2 feet? Would it sound like the surrounds were in front of me? If not I can miss the door on the right and get the left above the slide-glass door. Any opinions?-Bryan

It would be better 1 to 2 feet forward then on the ceiling I would mount them there alldayDan

Why not ceiling mount? Granted the FX series, due to the angle of incident of the drivers, can 'use the wall' a bit, but if the mount is secure, it's secure. No?

We went around and around about this some time ago....I've STILL yet to be convinced why you can't mount from the ceiling. If it's mounted properly, I don't see the issue. As far as weight goes, I don't buy it. I've got some fairly heavy ceiling fans and they stay up pretty well. Shoot, with a big enough bracket, I could hang Russ's big **** from the ceiling with no issues.

I'm going through this very same thing right NOW. The first thing I look for is where my rig is going.
How bad have you got it?:D
