Here we go. Don't mind the cinder blocks, they'll be gone in about 24 hours. There holding down the edges of the flooring against the tile where we glued them in place. Oh, and the red you see is the moisture barrier climbing the walls. That'll all get trimmed down and covered with new baseboards.

Next up will be new baseboards. We're going to use Pine 1x3's and stain them black. Eventually we'll remove all the crap mdf baseboards around the kitchen, hall, entry and entertainment room and do it all with Pine 1x3's.

I've never seen a hearth tied into the entry tile.....makes sense that it can't be shrunken down.......

I like that style of wooden floor.......now you have to dust the hell out of those things.....is the last pic 'construction dust' in the whiteish coloring?

I thought that was the best layout but it turned out even 'better' than expected!

    VERY NICE WORK!

The hearth, is in fact, a fake fireplace sitting on top of the tile. It's a gel-fuel fireplace. You can put up to 3 cans of fuel into it and it burns just like a regular fireplace. But, no ash, no soot, no mess, no smoke and no smell, yet I get about an 8" flame for about 3 hours from each can. Works great for our little place.

As for the last pic, off to the left are cinder blocks. Because there was nothing to lock the flooring down up against the tile we had to glue that first row down, the cinder blocks are keeping the weight on so it doesn't pop up.

Before we even began this project we went out and bought plastic feet gliders for all the chairs and felt pads for all the furniture.

Thanks again for the help, ideas and comments guys. We really love how it turned out.
