First movie was TransMegan. This movie should have been called TransBeoufer.

As much as I enjoy the new eye candy, I think Fox was a tougher character and more likely the girl next door willing to date Sam.

I agree with previous script change that kills off the new girl. I would also add a background story of Fox's character getting killed, too, leading to a suicidal, angry, bad **** Sam but maybe that's too similar to Lethal Weapons 2. Wimpy Sam sucks although LaBeouf didn't do a good tough guy job in Indiana Jones 4.

I did like what they did to Chicago.

I hope everyone realizes how much Michael Bay is laughing all the way to the bank. He keeps pinching off loaf after loaf after loaf of the same cinematic excrement and everyone keeps packing into the theaters. I predict this abomination will make $400 million and not a damn person will remember more than 20% of what actually happens on screen. But, OH! How the pretty lights, loud explosions and inane chatter dazzle us! It's GOOD to shut off our brains and become cats watching a dangling string, ain't it??

I gotta give it to Bay. In his own way, he's a genius. Selling his own personal brand of snake-oil to the masses.

Sorry Trey... maybe one day the Transformers franchise will fall into the hands of someone with a bit more vision. I gotta admit, I was excited as hell at the announcement of a Transformers movie. Then I saw Bay's name....
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I'll probably go see this one...for the specific purpose to allow
..."the pretty lights, loud explosions and inane chatter dazzle us! It's GOOD to shut off our brains and become cats watching a dangling string, ain't it??"
...and just watch...and maybe leave the theater and say..."that was cool".

If not... it is a few bucks and a couple of hours of time away from "the real world". Either way...not a bad outcome.

IF it is mental stimulation I want, there are plenty of genres that will provide that. Then again there are books which will provide an even greater level of brain exercise.

Bay can do whatever he wants with the share he gets from my ticket. If he chooses to laugh...fine by me.

There is a burn ban in my area and there is talk of no 4th of July fireworks.
Luckily, I think this was better than any fireworks show I have seen in awhile.

    Is the story great? no
Are there lots of Bayisms (hot girls with no acting, pointless 10 yr old jokes inserted in for no reason)? Yes

    BUT...
once the movie gets rolling into Michael Bay happy explosion time, it stays that way for the rest of the movie.

I saw it in RealD 3D, it had it's moments, but still undecided.

Transformers 2 and 3 are the only movies I have gone to see by myself, 2 wasn't worth it. 3 I would consider going to see it again in IMAX.

Michael Bay does what Michael Bay does best, action set pieces with great explosions. He isn't Spielberg, Nolan, Scorsesse, or even a R. Scott. But he doesn't try to be.

He has found his niche and perfected it. He isn't a Rami or Shymalan who tried something outside of his norm and failed... consistently.

Some Directors have a style and it kills me how people know this going in, and get angry when the style gets delivered. Its like going to see a Kevin Smith movie and shocked that there is cussing, or amazed at the amount of lens flares in a JJ. Abrams movie.

    Back to the point,
    Oscar Nominations - no.
    Razzie Nominations - probably plenty
fills the desire to stuff get destroyed - definitely

I enjoyed it in the usual "turn off your brain" capacity that I go into every Michael Bay movie expecting. But y'know... after all that crap he talked about how they learned from the criticisms of Transformers 2, 3 had the same exact problems. They had a chance to go really Empire Strikes Back dark with this one (and you see glimmers of it)... and yet, they still had the same "let's make the small ones talk jive!" comedy bits in there that basically took away from the gravitas of the whole situation. When Chicago's getting all jacked up, you really don't feel the consequence of it all... because while the buildings are all jacked up and they've done every other CGI trick to make it look like a war zone, there's no sense of death and destruction to it. It was as if they had destroyed a near-abandoned city, not Chicago. Contrast this with similar popcorn fare like Independence Day, where at least you felt like a ton of people were killed and that's why they were in the fight.

And I agree that the robots being out of the picture for so much of the movie was a total mistake, though I have a feeling that Bay did that intentionally because of all the complaints of the lack of story in 2. But y'know... the same problem exists here, even with all the human elements. I actually thought the actors did a better job here... but with a script that didn't give them much choice but to come across poorly. Frances McDormand was wasted, John Malkovich steals the movie for all the wrong reasons, and McJerky or whatever from Gray's Anatomy just isn't all that believable.

Still, when this comes out on Blu-ray, I'm sure I'll buy it. Sometimes, loud, pretty and dumb is all you need. I mean, I own Pearl Harbor.

    ****Spoiler Alert****

Enjoyable for what it was, the IMAX 3D was impressive but not always necessary and my eight year old thought it was the best movie ever so it did its job.

I did find it somewhat sad that there probably won't be another one after this. To end the movie you killed off all of the main decepticon leaders or wannabe's or damn cool guys like shockwave. I guess you can go the ressurection route or the unicron route but the plot struggles so much already it would be hard to build it.

Dark of the Moon has now earned $261 million at the domestic box office, supplanting The Hangover Part II ($149.6 million) as the years biggest earner.

Overseas, it grossed $93 million over the weekend for a massive international total of $384 million and worldwide total of $645 million - the No. 2 pic of the year behind Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which has now grossed $1.02 billion, the seventh best showing of all time.

Evidently lots of folks like a couple of hours of pretty lights and loud explosions entertainment (me included).

Ah... the old Club Polk double-standard when it comes to music vs. movies. "Lots of folks" like the Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber and Nickleback. Doesn't mean it's not garbage. My questing is... how will this movie still be used once the special effects become dated in 10 years? Will it still command repeated viewings?

I'm a huge transformers fan ever since the original cartoons on TV. Having said that, the first movie rocked but the second was ordinary and the third was just a big convoluted mess!! They definitely have to reboot !!

I rarely bash anyone's musical tastes...they are what they are. Nothing wrong with "Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber and Nickleback" IMO. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I'm sure some stuff I happen to like a lot is considered garbage by some...I really don't care. There is music that is considered to be "wonderful, classic, the best, ect" by many here on this forum that I simply can't stand. It's fine when you state your opinion...everyone is entitled to them. Just be careful when you characterize the viewer/listener and not the product.

I'm the exact opposite. I just want turn your brain off, crashing, booming, blowing stuff up and my HT room filled with 7.1 surround. I don't give two sheets about story and quality acting. I just want to be the A/V to impress me. Give me Sucker Punch or Transformers over King's Speech type films any day.

I love the first Transformers, just as I love first Matrix. I can't stand sequels to either one. Though at least I didn't cringe at Transformer 2 and 3 like I did for Matrix sequel. I didn't even bother for the third part. Bay said that he learned upon TF2 mistakes and made TF3 the best Transformers move AVAR!

movie sucked. wasnt even worth the free ticket i used to see it. That movie was so long and so drawn out and so repetitive. My mind was so shut off i slept through the last 20min of the movie.
I have tried to watch the second movie twice. Both times i never made it past the halfway point.
The special effects arent even that special anymore. How many times do we have to see and autobot skate down a street hacking up decepticons. Its the same damn thing from the first two movies. Granted it was totally awesome watching that fight scene on the desert road in the first movie, but seeing it repeated in both other movies is so stupid.

I dont even see the point in purchasing the Bluray as a HT benchmark/showoff movie. I still think Tron has better SFX and a much better audio track.
