Just wanted to give peaple a heads up on a speaker pair that retails for $2,500 and is winning a lot of praise. The cofounders of this company are Sandy Gross and Don Givogue. These are on my wish list and I am setting a goal for this summer to purchase . There are two dealers within an hour or two away -maybe they have a demo room set up to get a listen. Anyone out there have first hand experience with these speakers? Thanks,Darryl

Hello Darryl. I do have some experience with them. I will suggest that you get your ears on them first and not rely on reviews.

You can do much better for 2500.

Infact those rti12 you have sound better.

I heard a set that was personally set up by sandy gross and he was standing in the room. So... Yeah... Definitely can do better.

I have yet to hear them , you guys are basically saying they suck?
I expected them to sound better then the Mythos series from Def tech as they seem to steam from that line. With the ribbon tweeter I figured they would be smoother and more accurate , this is not so?

It may of been the setup... But sandy gross the man himself set them up so I would hope not. Honestly, no holds barred... I thought they sounded like dog mess. My dog can lay down a steamer with more detail and clarity.

The bass is ridiculous though, it is like having some big **** 18 inch subs in your room haha

Without answering any specific questions, yes. Then no. They do sound like they have one hell of a bottom end woofer, though. Not very accurate, but room filling non-the-less. Not very well integrated into the speaker IMO.

Yeah it sounded like a big **** 18 you would have in car audio... Boom boom boom and a lot of rumble... No articulation...

Anyways... They look pretty slick though. The new lsim, even in their rough state at Polk fest weremfar superior...

I tell ya what though Polk needs to learn from sandy. These damn speakers have gotten more newbie press than polls new flagship. And their new product is actually ok... These speakers are horrible and people actually want them...

Sandy gross is pounding the pavement, shaking hands and making these desirable somehow. Get with it Polk!

    Agreed there, kid. Agreed.

How he can make these desirable to anybody but the completely novice HT crowd is beyond me. BTW, I'm not brand bashing. I'm trying real, real, real hard to be nice and hold back my true thoughts on these speakers.

Yeah... When I was in the room a lot of people were very impressed. I don't know... Same thing with def tech, without significant modifications a lot of their speakers, IMO, are not listenable

Are you referring to BP or Mythos? The older BP IMO are overly bright , good for theater and not so good for music. The Mythos series are the best of both worlds but still being theater first.

I can listen to both series but grow very tired with the BP's.

I have a set of bp 20's and bright is not what I could call them. My Focal 815's, and sda 1.2 and 2.3 are way brighter. I think my bp 20;s are actually soft non fatiguing sounding in the highs and more reveiling then I thought they would be. ( might be because I bought them modded! ? ) :

It is all in who is listening to them. I have many customers who love these speakers. I like them but they are not for me personally.
