Pioneer SC-27 Problem Caused by Me

Well, I've done something to cause my SC-27 to shut down and continuously flash a warning light that translates to the following message in the manual:

Symptom = The ADVANCED MCACC indicator and power turns off.

Remedy = There is a problem with the receiver's power unit. The receiver may have a serious problem. Unplug the receiver from the wall and call a Pioneer authorized independent service company.

As I was moving my entertainment center, a wheel/caster snagged one of the speaker cables that resulted in the pulling of some of the strands of wire from the spade connector. These wires made contact with one of the opposite terminals. Upon plugging the receiver back into outlet and turning it on, the receiver immediately shut down with the aforementioned flashing indicator.

I've unplugged the entire system. There is no smell of smoke. I have not tried to plug it in again for obvious reasons.

Any recommendations besides waiting until Monday to contact Pioneer?

    It was unplugged when it was moved. Upon plugging it back into outlet, the problem occurred.

    Sorry if it wasn't clear.

    Do a hard reset on it and report back. MCACC sometimes will glitch up and shutdown the AVR. Here you go

    Hard Reset

    you can "release" the error by pressing the "down arrow" and the "zone 2
    on/off" for 2 seconds

    if the error comes back then more than likely the amp block has failed
    and it will need to be replaced/serviced.
    Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

    Disconnect everything from the AVR , make sure no strands of wire are left over from when the speaker wires got pulled. Turn on AVR , if it stays on your golden. If not then yeah time to get it repaired.

    Come on Pioneer installer, take notes bro. Hopefully the hard reset will work for him. In most cases it should.

    Everything has been disconnected from receiver.

    Hard reset made the blue power light come on for a nanosecond and immediately went out. Receiver still not coming on.

    OUCH...might be best to leave it unplugged, not connected to anything, overnight and try the hard reset in the morning. Hard to do this stuff right when your pissed off at yourself. Sorry for ya bro, crap happens to us all.

    OP can I ask what you did to get to this point. Power outtage, pulled the plug. Something like that?

    I moved my AV rack to connect something that I could not reach otherwise. While moving the AV rack, one of the wires (looped under rack) was rolled over by one of the wheels/casters which caused (unknown to me at the time) several strands of the speaker wire to separate.

    Apparently when the unit was moved back to its original position, the strands of the speaker wire touched an opposite terminal. When I turned the unit on, it powered off and the red light (ADVANCED MCACC) was blinking. I looked in the User Manual and saw the message to "unplug unit..."

    I recently had a failure with my SC07. I was adjusting the channel levels and suddenly there was a ear splitting noise from the surrounds, then no noise. The error lights signifying a major problem flashed. I tried reseting with no success. Fortunately it was still under warranty from BB and got it fixed. They supposedly replaced three boards including the mother board. I swear it sounds better now than it did before. My unit was a demo, so although I didn't have a external wire short like you, mine may have had abuse while at the store. Better than new now.....

    This was pure carelessness on my part. In haste, I did not do some of the preventive things that I normally do when moving the AV rack.

    I've boxed it up and will ship off to repair shop tomorrow. Until then, I will use one of my old, trusty Sony STR-DA777ES AVR's.

    Went to watch a movie tonight and the MCACC light on my sc-27 was blinking red. Got out the owners manual read what it said and thought I was in big trouble. Did a search and this thread come up. Did the hard reset lick you suggest and it powered back up. Had to unplug and plug back in the hdmi cable and everything seems to be working. Will need to try and rerun the MCACC tomorrow if I can find my mic. We lost power yesterday during a storm. I figure that what caused it. Have it plugged into a cheap surge protector. Didn't have time to unplug everything before storm hit.

    I do believe that's called a dead short. In days gone by replacing a fuse could remedy that. With your avr I don't think so.The thing is
    w/ my Yamaha in the YPAO mode they tell you your out of phase but it still allows you to play w/ crossed polarity.Not a good idea but I have seen it happen.
