At one point it said that it was hacked by two guys. I forget their names. Later I checked and it said that they were making changes to the website. They were hacked...
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

When I tried to view the forums with my BlackBerry a couple hours ago, a white screen cameup and said the site had been hacked by so-and-so, and so-and-so.

I am putting on my "foil helmet" and locking the doors before Patrick finds a good recipe for hushpuppies to go along with his "halibut".

There was a security hole in the version of vbulletin we were using that allowed a bot to overwrite the header of the page. That is why people saw that message. There was absolutely no database compromise. I upgraded to the latest version of vbulletin so all is good

    Likely story.

I'm not the only one that saw this right?

Upon coming to the page all I saw was a white screen and the words:

Hacked By Ashiyane Digital Security Team Rz04 And Mohammad Lenz Was here

I checked later on and got the ol' 404 error page but still no forum.
I'm not alone in this am I?
    Sounds good to me...

    *sigh*

It wasn't "real". It was a header replacement. It's not even a "hack" because vBulletin had a security hole in it that newer versions patched. It was a exploit that would allow anyone to replace the main header file for the vBulletin message boards. The only you had to know was where the header file was kept. Since you can't view the directory listing without the admin account, all you have to do is attempt to copy your own file to the header file with a direct path. Yeah, the display page was real but nothing was hacked. If it was, you'd have gotten notice from Polk Audio that your personal info on the forum had been compromised and you should be taking measures to minimize damage to your personal information.

It's less of a "hack" and more of an "easter egg". It's a lame "script kiddie" stunt.

Everyone should stop calling it a "hack" because it wasn't. It was all smoke and mirrors. Everyone should honestly stop discussing it and naming the assbags who were involved because that's what they want you to do. Just drop it and take off the tinfoil hats. Life goes on and loser kids in their parents basements shouldn't affect your life this much. There's more to life than Club Polk.

    Woooooooooohhh there.

Many members were curious about what happened. Patrick fixed and explained it quickly in the thread that was linked in the second post of this thread. I don't think anyone was freaking out and tearing the cables out of their routers.

That was a nice description of what happened but jeez, lighten up Jstas. There's more to life than telling people there's more to life than Club Polk.
    Sounds good to me...

Nobody who was in charge of the servers posted "hacked by so and so". If an outsider changed any scrift on the server it was hacked. Real plain and simple to me. Big deal. While it got fixed I worked on my tube phono:smile:

I really did not mean to affect the site last nite
and hope that it did not cause too much trouble.

I just could not help myself and kept on posting stuff in the different threads.

not knowing it would disrupt the site.

It came back soon after and all is much better.

Just a heads up guys, after last nights little snafu it appears that the link's for ALL the uploaded attachments are broke. I have all ready PM'ed Patrick about this so don't freak out I'm sure he'll get it fixed. Stuff like this happens unfortunately when you upgrade software sometimes. This may also explain why you can't seem to get uploaded pic's to work.

    So chill it'll get fixed.
