I just added a Azur 840c to my 2 channel which consists of a W4S ST500 int amp, the 840 and a pair of Mirage M-1s...right now I am using the rcas would there be that much of a difference if I used the balanced outputs....right now it sounds wonderful, as the 840 really raised the bar and I listen to 100% cds...old school and just like the discs.... have no problem with putting out for a good set of cables as I do believe..........
Thanks for any input....

It depends on the design of the gear if indeed it is fully balanced on both ends. Also with that short of a run RCA is fine, and you have many more cable options running RCA's. Remember if you try XLR's there is a 3-6db boost that some mistake as cleaner sound.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Here's what EJ says about the STI-500 from AVS forum:
"Due to the size constraints, the volume control circuitry is single-ended. The balanced input uses a balanced line receiver to convert it to an unbalanced signal. After the volume control is the line-stage which also doubles as an unbalanced to balanced converter. This considerably reduces the common mode noise found in unbalanced designs. " -
Found the W4S thread there ^^^^ tons of info and answers the question...thanks

There's tons on info on the subject here too, just search.
The short answer is that, because it depends on your gear, you just have to try it and see for yourself.
I've run my rig fully bablanced from the DAC to the preamp to the amp, and, for that gear and my ear, I prefered single-ended unbalanced RCA's. Don't know why, don't really care; It sounds better to me.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

When I had the 840C the Zu Varial XLR interconnects really worked well for me...always hard to predict if they would work well for you too, but if nothing else both of our amps are digital...Steve Carlson

Hi Guys.
I've been following most threads about you dudes swapping out one wire for another and then chageing back then trying another pair. If I did any more moves I would not have a floor left for my rig to be on. Do you really gut out wires and change them, it just seems that once your gear is set it's not moving unless your moving or selling so of it off. I have nice hardwood floors and everytime i move the rack there's another scrath in the floor. Any preventive measusures taken because I know wives really don't like this kind of thing.....LW2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
