I HAVE THE RT 800S AND IAM WONDERING IF I SHOULD UPGRADE TO THE 1000S. I ALSO HAVE A PSW 350 SUB AND WAS THINKING THE 1000S WOULD BE TO MUCH BASS IN THE ROOM. I WOULD LIKE ANYONES OPIONION ON THE 1000S?

i would choose the (2) 6.5 driver's in the 800 over the (1) driver/(1) enclosed woofer in the 1000's. get your bass through a sub.
listen, and let your ears do the deciding...

I've had it both ways.. I currently own 800's and 2000's and 55i's. Iv'e had the 1000's also- It boils down in what your going to do?
If your mostly doing HT... stick with the 800's
If your going to do 50/50 music/HT... then it gets more subjective
If your mostly music...I'd recomend the 1000's
I found that the 1000's dont offer a lot of "low" bass..but a smoother mid bass response not found with the 800's... this was noticed even more so when the volum was down while watching regular tv programs. I noticed the 1000's sounded better in "all around" applications... the 800's definatly in HT since you have a sub...
As the suggestion above states... listening will be the deciding factor..
good luck..thomas a. -
This is a good debate teh rt800's vs the rt1000.
Yes the rt has a smoother mid and high range due to the fact that the top is sealed and is cossed over differentley then the 800's,you can plainly hear the difference.Music is the best test. The built in sub in the 1000's is difficult to set up.It took me about 2 years of up and down moving the speaker's adjusting the volume of the sub,but guess what??They don't sound like a powered tower anymore, they sound like a wel balanced full range tower speaker.
I played with the rt800's alot.I just founf them to be slightly muddy sounding when compared to the 1000's.But they are great sounding speaker's when not compared.
It's the amp you connect to them will change everything as well.I found that B&K and denon work's quite well..

thaks for your input, i guess i need to bring them home to find out, but they will mostly be used for movies, if u have any other info please let me know , thanks :skinny
-
If mostly for movies... get the 800's.....definatly. Or even the 55i's and save ya some money. all in all. great speakers...and either way you go..you'll be happy-

i would second trapped under ice's vote for the 800's for HT.
-
I would like t know why you want to upgrade to the 1000's.Are you unhappy with the 800's?They are great sounding speaker's.If it's just the bas your unhappy with I would get the psw350 out and get a psw450.It hit's harder and lower,it's less noticable then the psw350 due to the fact it hit's lower.
Personally the rt1000i's are much better for both music and movies. The mid range is much more detailed and clear. They will also smooth out bass response in the room. You can move your sub around alittle more freely with the rt1000i's as the rt800's need the low end help more.

Thanks Dan,
I found a really great price on the 1000's but I have plenty of bass in the room but Iam a bass freak! I do have the psw 450 I was wrong thinking I had the 350{i love this speaker}. Iam still debating on what Iam going to do. I was even thinking about the 55i,s. Let me know what u think
thanks Dan,

In my personal opinion,
the rt55i's sound better than the rt800's.They seem tighter, cleaner but don't hit as hard. The rt55i's sound great on a pair of ultimate foundation stands(filled with sand).Clean clear beautifull.
Good choice for fronts, sides, rears, music only or whatever, just love those 55i's.
Dan
ps.....I would still get the rt1000i'sover all....but who's counting!!Dan
