I've been trying to choose between these two receivers for some time now.

I felt that I'd get the best response of those who've bought one or the other, what other reveivers they compared it to before buying, and finally, why they picked the one they did!!!

(no Tour2ma,I haven't done it yet)

Please, any help of owners (or those with close knowledge) of these 2 receivers would be greatly appreciated.

I can get both from Authorized dealers at nearly the same price.

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

without knowing your speakers, room etc.I still suggest the Pioneer Elite over the Onkyo.Onkyo's tend to be overly bright.Hissy if you will.Long listening sessions are not in order here.

The 45 is a nice all around receiver.Preference here.

You know, this is the real deal.Buy a Denon avr3803 and don't look back. It's the very best 1k receiver on the market in my opnion.Nothing and I do mean nothing can compare to it's value, features and ability to mate with polk rt series speakers.

7 video in's,video upconverting,7.1 discrete, ability to run powered second zone(5.1 in main room)or 7.1 in the main room, add a power 2 channel amp, have a pair of rti150 or so in another room for 2 channel stereo, discrete power, nice factory remote, plenty of power, nice built quality, even has the ability to run 2 pairs of surround side speakers for music and movies.A would be for music like a pair of Dipoles, then B for a mono pair for 7 channel music or SACD/DVD AUDIO.What more do you need??????

Here, here. I continue to be amazed at how good this AVR sounds in my system paired up with my Polks and the M1.4 bi-wire. You cannot buy a better DSP and DACs at this price point.

Look at a Denon 4802. They are really coming down in price and have alot of power and great features like the 3803. I agree with Mantis on the Onkyo.

Most important, listen to the receiver on your system or one like it before you make your decision.

I'll disagree with all of you guys with regard to Onkyo. I was running 5 years with an Onkyo receiver and was extremely happy with it. It provided plenty of juice to my speakers and gave them some incredible punch. Definitely worth a listen......

If you can get the 45TX get it. The price should be about 700 +/-.
Its replacement is the 55TXi (i-link one cable) I would look at the 49-TXi thats what I have and the sound is great :D

As for the Onkyo, Denon, they did not come close to the sound I got from the Pioneer, and I tryed them in my home before I bought the 49-TXi. See if your dealer will let you try them before you buy also.

I disagree also, ONKYO is pretty good stuff, I had one also for about 6 years (tx-sv727) and worked great!! My Integra DTR 7.1 works great as well.. it does come off harsh at times but only at high volumes and speakers have to take some responsibilty to brightness.. Not only receivers.... far as the other brands... ive heard mixed feelings about all of them......

    OK -
    Another vote for the 45TX.

I haven't heard the Onkyo, but the 45TX sounds great in my house.

Although with the 45TX I would suggest that you use an 8 ohm minimum speaker setup otherwise I also would lean toward the Denon 3803.

Look they are both fine components. Lots of folks in here use Onkyo/Interga. They both sound bright to me. If you want a real diff. in tone you probably need to go with tubes.

It does not suprise me at all that folks would call the Onk bright. Afterall, Japanese piano's like Yamaha are brighter sounding than American made ones, ( very few of these now made in USA )

I have an Onk and am quite satisfied with it. I also have an Elite DVD which is terrific and I would not hesitate to go with the 47ai from Pioneer to match up with it.

See if you can get a demo with some music YOU like. If not, well its your dough, think about where you might like to head with your overall system, the synergy of the whole thing.
