....my all time favorite is Doctor Zhivago.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059113/

...always makes me feel warm and cozy, and appreciate what I have. Also because I am still in love with Julie Christie.

...this year I have the Complete series 1-6 of Northern Exposure. 26 DVD's and all 110 episodes. Will be, like being there. Love Maggie still.

My favorite Christmas-time movie is Die Hard. I never really lived in a place where it snowed (much) so haven't had a chance to build up that kind of association I guess.

Re: Die Hard, cause nothing is more fun at Christmas than blowing up buildings, cause it has an awesome score, and cause Alan Rickman is awesome as the bad guy!

"It's Christmas, Theo. It's the time of miracles. So be of good cheer and call me when you hit the last lock."

    Badass.

Doctor Zhivago has a great score and is a great movie too, I've just never been able to watch it all in one sitting.

I can never pick a good movie to watch on any one occasion. I don't even have a favorite movie. There are simply too many good ones to pick. And watching something new is always fun. Currently watching Stargate Atlantis from Netflix. Not as good as SG1 but still better than many other Sci-Fi shows out there.

We should start a board games for snowy days thread. Won't list any here since I don't want to thread jack.

    Lawrence of Arabia

    ....yada - yada.

    - Snow days are good "memory" days....place & time!!! Create a "NEW" one!!!

My problem is that I have a 7 and 9 year old. They like different things. Then my wife's taste often very with mine. My son and I watched a Star Wars marathon during the recent Chirstmas break. It was fun but my wife and daughter weren't into it.

My father-in-law's favorite Christmas movie is "It's a Wonderful Life." My wife and I like it too but my kids don't.

"Spies Like Us" and "Die Hard" are fun movies that I can watch anytime. Family, no.

Boards games are something we can all agree on though, and I am not talking about simple Monopoly.

So just to name a few movies (grossly incomplete list)...
    Airplane or Airplane 2
    Alien series movies
    Back to the Future
    Benhur
    Close Encounters of 3rd Kind
    The Dirty Dozen
    Dune
    The Matrix movies
    Superman (Christopher Reeves)
    Flash Gordon
    Galaxy Quest
    Ghostbusters
    Indiana Jones movies
    James Bond movies
    Monty Python movies
    The Naked Gun movies
    The Princess Bride
    Spaceballs
    Star Trek movies
    Star Wars movies
    The Terminator
    X-Men
    The Wizard of Oz
    Willy Wonka & Choc. Factory

actually, pretty much any Sci-Fi movie works well for me.

If you like SG1 you might try FarScape (also on netflix) IMHO best SciFi Series EVER.

Just a few of my favorites for a day of vegging on the tube.

To Kill a Mockingbird (My all time favorite)
    Kingdom of Heaven
    Gattica
    Dogma
    Rob Roy

Farscape was certainly a great show, but for me I'd have to pick Firefly as one of the best after TNG and SG1.

Oh, and I thought I'd put in one of my "I can watch this a million times!" - Army of Darkness.

Loved Farscape and Firefly. Watched them again just recently. I also like Babylon 5, ST-TNG, and ST-DS9. Never was into ST-TOS. ST-Voy was tolerable. I couldn't stand ST-ENT.

When our kids were younger, we took them to see Snow Day - they thought it was the funniest movie ever, and that made it all the more enjoyable for my wife (then my girlfriend) and me. How can you go wrong with Chris Elliot, Chevy Chase, Pam Grier, and Iggy Pop?

The kids are older now, so during the storm last night, we watched Fiddler on the Roof, Anchorman, and Fargo!
