Set all your speakers to Small. After the automatic calibration go back in to see what the individual speaker settings are ( db ) you may find bringing them back to o db will help...or at least close to 0 db.

How do you have this all wired up ? If the speakers are connected directly to the avr, and you use the sub out on the avr to go to the 505, then set all speakers to small, crossover in the receiver at around 80, and turn the crossover on the back of the sub all the way up to it's highest value. That should give you a good starting point.

Ok, I did the avr254 easy eq setup with the mic. all the speakers are connected directly to the avr and the sub is lfe. The avr sets all my speakers to large is this the correct setting? Just doesn't seem like i should have my center on large too. hmmm??

Welcome to Club Pok jabbahoo  Tony's bang on on the setting requirements. The reason the AVR sets the speakers all large is because it recognise them as being able to do so. However, for proper HT experience you must set them all up manually at 80Hz and let the sub provide for the bass. You definitely NEVER set a center large as it needs to concentrate on the movie voices which will play in the mid bass - 80Hz area (man's voice) up to the female voices (higher frequencies). Your fronts are capable of bass but you are better of to give the task to the 505 keeping your AVR power for the mid and high.

    Cheers!
