Too Much Static Electricity?

Hey!
I've got a problem that I hope you guys/gals can help out with. First off, I live in New Mexico and it's extremely dry. I run multiple humidifiers all the time but it only helps a little (usually a constant 37% humidity). I'd install a permanent humidifier but I live in base housing so I can't. Second, the equipment I have a problem with is an Onkyo TX-NR709.
OK, here's the problem. Every time I get up from my La-Z-boy, the signal from my computer's sound card (digital out) is interrupted causing the receiver to search for the signal again (like what it does normally when you turn the receiver on).
I'm thinking the excessive static electricity is causing this problem, but I'm not sure. What do you all think? Maybe the receiver isn't grounded properly? I do live in base housing, and the homes are built pretty shoddy.
