I have had original 10s from 1980 for 31 years. They have very strong bass (and It goes deep) that can shake a room and have more bass weight then my RTA 12s. IF there is not a hookup or phase issue, room issue ect i think you already gave a clue as to what it might be.
"They do sound nice, just a lot lighter in the bass than I remember with my NAD amplifier."

BIMGO!! NADs have a very strong bottom end and if you had a unit with a bassEQ switch that may have been on. My 20 watt per channel NAD 7020 drives my 10s very well and the bass is very deep and strong and will rattle the blinds on movies. Keith

If thats the case then something is wrong with my 10's as well. Cause they do not have deep room shaking bass. They do have strong tight bass though.

It sounds like it might be the size of my room and the power output of the Pioneer 1020. So, it sounds like I should add a sub to my system. I'll take a look at the Polk subs, but I can't spend a lot. I'm on thin ice as it is. Some women just don't understand.
I still have to check my woofers to make sure they are all working, and I'll do that tonight.

I am going to agree on the room. When I tried my 10b in the basement 26x26. The bass disapears and they sound thin and tinny. When I put them in the living room that is 18 x 13. What a difference. I couldn't believe it was the same speaker. Remember when you have a big room you need to move some air. In this case size does matter. If you don't want to use a sub I would suggest the bigger sda to fill the air. They do nicely in my basement.

    Thanks ernidjade, and everyone else,
I guess I'll start looking for a sub. I can't spend much, because of my wife. I don't need it for music, I really want it for movies.

Tilca, what area do you live in? The reason why I ask is because we can help you find one in your area.

I would look for a used velodyne on craigs list or do a search on ebay but filter it by your area.
