Wrist Pain

Whats up all?
Anyone experience wrist pain? Many years ago I use to detail cars when I was in college. I use to run a Buffing wheel most of the time as I was very good at it. Sometimes at the end of the day my forearms would hurt.
Years later my wrist started hurting once in a while but nothing serious. Annoying at best.
I still work with my hands being an Installer and programmer and just a few weeks ago I was terminating over 50 cat6 ends in T568B. I was behind 3 racks all day filled with Control 4 gear and many other network connected devices. I build all my own network wires to length.
That night I noticed my wrists hurting more then usual. My right wrist is fine now but my left one is hurting right underneath my thumb like on the side of the wrist joint.
I tried to play guitar the other day but it hurt to press on the strings to make chords or single notes. The angle you hold your hand hurt.
I'm planning on seeing the doctor soon if t doesn't go away on it's own. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
On a side note getting older sucks ****!!!:frown:

not use to pain located where you mentioned but i had me a ganglion cyst on the top part of my wrist. it never got big enough for others to see but the pain was remarkable when i bent my hand upward. needless to say my bench press suffered.

in my case i attribute it to not stretching enough or at all before i put the weight up. it would come and go months at a time. haven't had it in awhile, knock on wood. hope it's gone forever. i guess most have a doctor drain that **** with a humongous needle whose opening must be big enough to suck "gel-like" fluid. i hate going to hospitals so i just stabbed it with a pin and drained it a few times myself.

anyway, take this **** seriously mantis. it's your livelyhood your dealing with. simple tasks may become hard to carry out. you need your hands to make money. get to the bottom of what ails you.

Thanks Bizill. I don't have any cyst or bumps anywhere on my wrists. I looked up stuff on the net and saw that to be a common thing. I don't have any of that. I hate going to the doctors as I sit there for an hour or more then go back , sit some more , have the doctor come in and write a prescription for something that doesn't really help all that much.
But it hurts enough to have it checked out or x rayed. I gotta get it fixed it's starting to interfere with everyday life.

    Soft Tissue injury.

Prescription; anti-inflammatory and possible wrist brace.

I have had it where I could not hold a screw gun.

ah, just make sure to be certain. as i said, mine was near invisible yet it "crippled" me to an extent. and i just ran a search and they do form where your pain is located. hopefully yours isn't that nor carpel tunnel or anything of the sort.

anti inflammatory huh , didn't think of that. The wrist brace I have one for the right but not the left , I'm planning on picking one up and using it when I sleep.

    Thanks for the tips.

I second the specialist! It can be something simple or something a bit more serious. I know it may be difficult resting the wrist due to work acivities, but try and not to over exert it for a few days and some pain medication. You may want to alternte some hot and cold compresses as well.

my wrists kill every once in a while. you can pick up splints to wear while you sleep if you tend to curl your hands in while you sleep. I don't so I don't wear them. Theres a test to see if its carpal tunnel. you hit the base of your palm right in the middle somewhat hard a few times. If you feel something like a shot of electricity run up your hand, you've got it. its not definitive, but it's something you can check

I wear a wrist splint at night and it does provide some relief. I tend to curl my hands up while asleep and the pain wakes me up. Don't worry the pain will only get worse.

i know. but i had a strong co-worker do a "dry run" with a thick, hardcover MSC catalog over cleared table and he really went overboard. scared the **** outta me. i didn't trust him so instead i started smashing my wrist against the corner of the dest. i didn't fare too well as you could imagine.

anyway, it went away on its own after a few times draining it myself. it can still come back though.

Naproxin Sodium works well for me. It takes the sharpness out of my pains, and also is an anti inflammatory.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Not a cyst and probab;y not carpal tuneel either. From you r description, I would guess it is DeQuervains syndrome.http://www.medicinenet.com/de_quervains_tenosynovitis/article.htm

Anti-inflammatories (Aleve or advil usually work best), wrist splint for about 7-10 with a thimb spica and ice. Any questions, I am happy to help.

I'm a desk jockey, and really damaged my wrist one summer of working overseas when I only was given a laptop to type on. After 6 weeks I was taking advil every 2 hours just to get through the day. When I got back to the US I bought a simple wrist support from CVS, and an ergonomic keyboard (MS Natrual Ergo Keyboard actually- highly recommended, and relatively cheap), and the pain gradually went away. If I know I'm typing a lot, I wear the wrist support, but the keyboard itself usually does the trick.

RSIs really suck- if you've been doing the same motion or activity your entire life and we weren't entirely designed for it the consequences can be pretty painful. Hopefully you can cure it, and if not, at least get the pain to be manageable. Good luck.

Happens to me all the time, especially when using a drill or sawzall all day. Some Advil and a brace, and light duty for a week should take care of it. If it persists more than 2 weeks, I'd see a doctor otherwise suck it up young man.

    It really stinks getting old.

I am at the point where I just suck it up. I always forget to take alleve even though it is in my truck. I am in pain pretty much all the time even sitting on the sofa listening to tunes.

    Sucks getting old.
