New HDMI receiver no audio/video output

Hello, I setup my ONKYO rc260 today. I only have 2 hdmis plugged into it. hdmi 1 labeled BD/DVD is hooked up to my PS3. HDMI out is connected to my TV. I thought that choosing the BD/DVD on the receiver would bring audio and video from my PS3. The only video I get is from the TV with no sound (turned off the internal speakers). My TV has only 2 hdmi inputs and no optical outputs. It does have a digital audio out. I hope I'm just missing something obvious here... the video is supposed to be pass through to the TV from the receiver right? I had to plug the PS3 back into the TV and run the digital audio to the receiver... why bother with hdmi receiver?? Any help would be highly appreciated. Fresh start/look at things tomorrow. ~Cheers

Go into the receivers menu, under setup inputs, see what choices you may have. If that doesn't work, try another input. Sometimes you have to set up the receiver to pass the video, some have a setting that says "Through". Not too familiar with that receiver but read the manual on setting up the inputs.HT SYSTEM-

He's playing bluray through his ps3. Don't know how old it is,what updates he may have. If he's not getting picture or sound, but does on the tv when hooked up directly, I'm guessing he didn't setup the inputs.HT SYSTEM-

Thanks for the replies, I'll keep reading the manual and check the input selections. I'll do that with the PS3.

Keiko hit the tail on me!! How stupid I am... however. I did need to reset the PS3 to allow audio through hdmi. I got it to work audio and vid but when I changed sources and went back to PS3 audio worked but no video. Eventually I'll get the hang of it.

I've done that too, scorpion.
Sometimes it's the obvious that gets overlooked most frequently. Welcome aboard, btw.
Spoken truth. Wish I had a nickel for everytime I overlooked the obvious.
Then I'd be able to afford to live out by you Mike.HT SYSTEM-
