I remember a couple years back some one made a page to try and get money for a car and he ended up with enough money to get an Escalade. I am at a place in life where I need to do the same thing, but for a house. I can make a web page easy enough, the problem is generating the traffic I would need to pull it off. If any one is familiar with that story, and would know how to go about doing it any help would be appreciated.

I think he sold ads as small as a single pixel. You could try it, but I think you might also want to do it in conjunction with the old-fashioned way - work and save.

I am working, but the saving part just is not happening yet. I have also applied for a new job that would double my income. The problem is I am going to be on the streets any day now. If it were just me I'd say no big deal, but I have a wife and four kids to look out for. I was supposed to have a place lined up to move into in the middle of December, but it fell through. I have been looking for a place to rent for the past 4 months, but have not been able to find a place I can afford. We were supposed to vacate where we are at now on the 31st of December, and are now waiting for the eviction notice. I have contacted The United Way, and the Red Cross. United way can not help us as there is not a united way in our county and they are not allowed to cross county lines. The Red Cross can put us up in a motel for 3 nights. So now I am in a desperate situation and do not know which way to turn. I'm am past the depression from the situation, and am doing anything I can to try to find a place for my family for at least the winter. I know I can go through the USDA to get a rural development loan (which I am filling out an application for), but It's going to take at least 6 weeks for that to go through. All I know is it's getting colder out side, and I know a tent is not going to stay warm. I have already started moving my stuff in to storage so I don't loose everything.

Yikes. Stay as positive as you can and keep a clear head. You can get through this, but it sounds like it won't be easy. I'm guessing there are no relatives in the area?

nearest ones are over 2 and a half hours away and do not have room for us. Besides the commute would suck.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but even if you could set up a web page with that in mind, it would more than likely take weeks or months for real money to potentially roll through.

    Dude,

One, if you want to get personal on this level, what's your name. If you think you'll get enough money for an Escalade, you politic'd the wrong forum. That's a terrible opening IMO.

I feel for your situation and want to help, BUT that comes with some caveats. If you're willing to brief us as to your current situation then you need to lay it all on the table. WTF is going on that caused this issue?

Money is tight for all of us and before I skip my precious Taco Bell crunchy burrito in a given week, it better be worth it. I'm trying to lighten the mood, ha ha.

If you need financial help, what are you doing to help yourself?

I've established a fund for you to the tune of $50, via Paypal. This isn't a year long fund, just temporary since you need to do whatever you have to and get on your feet.

Your obligation is to make things right and lay everything on the table. Suck up your pride since you wouldn't be here if you didn't already recognize some of that.

I wish you the very best and hope it all works out in the end. If what membership and myself can do to help, all the better. We help our own to the best of our abilities, and this should be no exception.

Anyone that wants to donate to Dudeinarooms issue, contact me offline via PM or Email

I'm not asking anyone here for any help, even though I do appreciate it. The biggest issue I have is shelter for my family. Between the Red Cross, DHS, and personal funds, I have enough to cover a deposit and a few months of rent, with steady money coming in every two weeks. I have a few bills that are holding me back from getting the money I want to buy a house. which 2 are medical bills and one is a charter bill that I haven't been able to pay off. Right now because of heating the sieve that I live in I can not save money (I am drowning in an electric bill). I know once I get out of this place I will be able to catch back up. I live in a area where there was a prison, but when it shut down people just don't realize that 80%+ of the people making $25-50/hr left the area and they are left with $7.40-$15.00/hr renters left in the area. It's kind of funny you will see a house with renters in it one week and gone a few later because rent, for the most part, is too high.

I have applied to ACI to install cable services, and if that goes through I will be making double what I am making now, and 2.5 times that in the summer. I have a friend that I was pretty close with in high school and saw him for the first time in something like 14 years, he is good friends with the the guy who is the supervisor for four of the local counties, and remembers me from the school days. I was instructed to fill out an app, and send in a resume, and he would more than likely be able to get me in.

Since the first week we moved into where we are at (8/2008)we have had trouble with our land lord fixing things. We started with holding rent. and after being here for 22 months (6/2010) our land lord fixed the water heater and "patched" leaks in the roof. a couple months later we got a demand for payment and had to go to court. My wife went in on the court date and asked for a continuance so we could secure a lawyer. It was granted. We had a lawyer from legal aid with us when we went. We had 61 pictures of issues with the trailer. In a nut shell the Judge said we should have know of the issues and bu accepting the lease agreement that we agreed to the condition of the trailer. There was no check list for us to go over when we moved in so that's that. He did knock off 20% of the rent owed. a month of so later we got a notice to quit. We ended up going to court, this time she had a lawyer. Before court we tried to make a deal with them to be out at the end of December, but they would not have it. The wife had asked for a continuance to seek legal representation, and our landlord's lawyer piped up, saying that they would make the deal that we had brought before them in court. We had a place that we were going to move into in the middle of December so all was well. we talked it over and the lawyer added the stipulation that we would have our stuff off of the patio by Sunday November the 7th. We agreed and read over it then signed. Everyone knows you should read before you sign, right? Well someone needs to teach that to my landlord and her lawyer that, he wrote the agreement up as we had to move our stuff by Sunday December 7,opps, no such date this year. So our house deal fell through, so back to the scramble to find a place (never stopped looking even though we had a place lined up). So here I am now looking for a place to live, 5 days after I was supposed to be out. I've widened the area I am looking at. The biggest problem is most places around here do not have 3 bedroom apartments, and they will not let you have 6 people in a 2 bedroom.

    that's about it

Have you tried Craigslist for barter and trade opportunities to get things fixed? There's a bunch of folks looking for side work and cheap work for fixes.

Getting things fixed is the landlords responsibility, besides, I am already supposed to be out of here. I'm just waiting for the eviction notice. At this point I would be fixing things for the landlords' benefit. The problem is I am going to be homeless real soon because I wanted a suitable place to call home.

You may lverage some fixes to stay with a roof for few weeks. Tell him youll fix stuff for the next person for some latitude.

We have offered to fix things all along, but they would have none of that. When we moved in they said they were going to replace the windows, and put in carpet. We had found carpet and offered to put it in, but they said no. We had located windows for free on craigslist that would have fit or have been close enough to fit and offered to help install them, but that was also a no. I did replace some of the electrical outlets, as anything you plugged in would fall out of the wall. There was also one that was broken and falling apart when we moved in. Thanks for the idea though.

As of now, they just want us out so they can slap up another coat of paint to hide all of the water damage and get some one else in here to ripoff. We had to wait to move in here because they were painting, thought nothing of it, but now I realize why they didn't even want to show it until the paint was up. I hate to think of what is in the walls of this place, especially considering the resident mole and mouse that live in the walls/ceiling.

Dude, take the help people are offering you here. You plan to create a website for money, you might as well take what your friends in this website can offer. It won't help you buy a house, but it looks like you can use any help you can get.

Looks like you are not in the right place at the right time. Things are tough everywhere, but there's worst places than others. What keeps you from moving in search of a better location???

I am willing to kick in some money. Mark, we will talk today when I see you. This kind of thing makes my stomach turn; a father of four threatened with eviction. Take the 3 night motel stay offered from Red Cross and that will buy you a little time. In the meantime, let the forum and members who help you out in any way possible.

No one said a couple hundred bucks will solve his problem. But I'm sure it will help.

I am trying to figure out a point from your post. As hard as I try, I can't get it.

My point? Most people in rough situations are living paycheck to paycheck or less. If you have several months rent in the bank and a steady income you're doing better than a lot of people right now.

Bob, Ricardo.... that's exactly what I was thinking! I am living paycheck to paycheck for the most part. No where near moving into a tent either, so that part really doesn't make sense at all to me.

between what I have in the bank, what Red cross and DHS will give me to move into a place I could afford a place, if I could find something local, and that I can afford. I did not have to pay rent for last month, and have around $400 in the bank. Saginaw is about 40 minutes away and would cost too much in gas in my gas hog. Besides the chances of finding a good area to rent in Saginaw is slim to none, the crime rate is too high. Saginaw has the highest violent crime rate in the US according to thecrimereport.org. 3 bedroom houses in our area run about the same as that if you can find them. You can buy one for even cheaper. I really like the area where we live in. It is a rural area and is great for raising kids. The teacher at the school my boys attend have been accommodating and understanding to the needs of my boys who are bipolar, which can be a hard thing to find. If I end up getting a new job, I may move closer to Bay City, but would like to stay out of the city proper. I'm always on the look out for a step up when it comes to a job, but they are still limited here in MI.

Dude, I hope the new job comes your way, really I do, but I want to suggest some things to you that will toss you out of your comfort zone. Obviously you like the area you live in, but if jobs are scarce, rent too high, why stay there ? Apply for jobs in other area's,maybe even out of state. When it comes to a roof over your head, drastic measures are needed. Move closer to family who maybe can help out when another disaster strikes. If you don't change your prospects, nothing in your life is going to change. I'm assumeing your the only bread winner in the household, what would happen to your wife and kids if something happened to you ? Everyone needs a support system around them, can't think of any better than family. Your family's well being is hanging by a thread, if I may be so bold, time to make tuff choices to ensure the basic necessities of life. I don't know what you do for a living,or what your capable of doing, but I strongly suggest you go where the jobs are,and closer to a support system of family. I wish you all the best and pray things work out for you.
