I was wondering what you guys are doing for speaker calibrations as far as SACD vs movies. I have perfectly calibrated my 4.0 system and am wondering if anyone is tweaking or bumping any channels for SACD or DVD-A

First off 4.0 doesn't get the job done for theater or music especially SACD , it's Stereo or 5.1
When you calibrate , you calibrate not for a movie or music , you calibrate your system to spec. Bumping just colors what you are listening to.Dan

Well i have it calibrated to spec with an analog spl meter but for some reason i thought i saw some people talking about bumping the surrounds a little for one or the other.
And.. my 4.0 channel system is doing just fine thank youOnkyo TX NR 5008 modified by The Upgrade Company

SACD is 5.1 discrete channels, or it downmixes to stereo, then you can spread it out over 4.0, but your not getting all the glory of SACD that way.HT SYSTEM-

Well - call me a 'bumper'....
I like the way Yamaha's YPAO sets the center level for dialog as it works great for movies & dialog, but I find it is a bit too much for multi-channel SACDs.
So I have 2 saved settings on my AVR - one for movies which uses the 'as is' calibration values, and another for music where I've turned down the center level setting by about 4 'ticks'. I find, for me, it spreads the front sound stage better across FL, C, and FR.
