Crackle/Popping?

I posted this on the amazon forum too...
Hi there...I used to frequent the forum back in sept when I was upgrading my h/t and A/V Guru helped me pick out a Yamaha RX-V1065 with two Monitor 70's, a CS20, and my old RM8's and PSw110 as the surrounds and sub. All was well and good and sounding great, the 70's are starting to break in nicely..BUT now I have a really weird, random problem. Every so often I hear crackles/pops in the front sound stage (pretty sure it doesn't come out of the rears). It's really prominent during certain things...ie. on my 360 playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood it is really prominent and happens quite frequently...but when I watch netflix on the 360 it rarely ever happens (but does sometimes). When I'm watching a bluray on the PS3 I don't think I've ever heard it. Lastly, when I watch TV (which is hooked up coax to the tv, optical out to the receiver) it was really prominent this past sunday watching FOX football. What the heck could this be? At first I thought it was the HDMI cable from my 360 to the receiver, but that wouldn't explain why the TV signal was doing it. My second thought is speaker wire...but that doesn't explain why the PS3 rarely if ever does it. All i know is it's driving me bonkers. Any input would be awesome.

Start wiggling connections at the back. First, wiggle just the wires (could be a bad connection inside a terminal of a wire), after you done all of 'em, go back and wiggle the connectors themselves (could be a bad solder joint inside on the the pieces). See if you can make the crackle/pop happen...... ><////(*>

Did that...no crackle...maybe crackle/pop is the wrong noise its more like static I suppose.

Is it in both speakers? Unhook one of them, and play something you know creates the problem. You need to start isolating the issue. It sounds like the Yamaha at this point....based on the basic information. A processing problem.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Are you only having problems with digital sources? Can you hook up the devices that are giving you issues with analog cables? With what little we know so far I agree with Doro about it being a processing issue.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I had trouble recreating it last night...that's the problem/mind boggler, it's so random. If it's a processing issue how would i fix it?

How do I fix this processing issue? I've switched and played around with wires and its still doing it.

thats going to be my next test, I have an old pair of RM7's that I used as surrounds with my RM8's (which I use now as surrounds)...and yes the receiver was bought new in Sept from amazon. Trying like to heck to avoid getting into a warranty situation.

those were bought new too...so I'm assuming they have some form of warranty also.
-
Yep still does it with the RM7's...it was much harder to pick up on those because they sound like nothingness compared to the 70's.
