Why does the sound not work when I play a DVD. It's connected to by cable box which is connected to the TV. TV is connected to Sound bar with optical cable. Do i need to connect the dvd to the sound bar independently and with a 1/8 cable?

Hello,
Thanks for posting. It is important that the DVD player's digital audio output be set to PCM as opposed to Dolby digital. This is usually done via the player's setup menu.
