You know what is a drag about vacation?

When you haven't had one in a while (talking like 3 years at least, probably more), you still get that anxiety of having to go to work the next morning even though you're off. It screws up your sense of time too. It's been Tuesday all day today and for some reason I keep thinking it's Sunday. Same thing with yesterday. All day, thought it was Sunday.

So I have a ton of stuff to do and lots of time to do it. But I keep psyching myself out and thinking "Ah, it's like 6 o'clock. I don't want to start that now. What if it takes longer than I expected? I'll be falling asleep at work tomorrow!" Then I realize it's Tuesday and I still have 5 more days of vacation left.

Guess I should get to painting and stop posting here. Not like anybody cares. All I'm gonna get is a bunch of Canadians responding about how negative I am or how much harder they have it in Canadia or whatever.

But THE worst thing about vacation is the night before the day you have to go back to work.
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

What a drag it is getting (C)old! Back in from shoveling drifts, living in Maine is going to be the death of me! I'm a Pa. boy at heart--and I have my eye on Atlanta as a retirement spot--but that's still a while!

Oh boo hoo hoo. Just be thankful for actually getting to have a solid week off during the holiday season, get your painting done, and post pics of the fine job done with pride instead of whining about it! :)

If you really want painting to **** about, try painting an igloo in minus 40 degree weather! Then you will know what tough painting is all about. :D

I suffer the same anxiety. I get it on weekends when I have an extra day. I get it when I'm on vacation away somewhere cool.

What it comes down to for me I have worked all my life. Whats funny is for the last 12 years I have loved my job(s). I love what I do for a living. I get to basically play everyday with new gear and experience things I normally would not have been able to. I live the life of the rich and famous for a few hours a day usually. Most of my customers are wonderful people.
I have been in front of the worlds greatest gear and in some of the best theater rooms but yet I still need a break from it all from time to time.

    This is a problem?
Try the one where they drag you into a 2 hour conference call every day
you take off. And calls all day with those "I know you're off today, but
could you take a quick look at this?"
If you get days off clean, be happy.

Oh, no, that happens now. I had to fight to get this week off as well. As late as 12/23 they were trying to get me to come in this week. I told them no way Jose! I've had this time requested since 1/8/2010 so there would be no questions on timeliness of requests or any other issues with my time off. I was first in line for the time so there was no way they could tell me that someone else asked for it first.

I gave my manager my personal cell number and told him I would be ignoring my work phone so if there was a real emergency to call my personal cell. Otherwise, I'm dead to the world.
