Programming Remote Controls

Hi,
I set up my new SurroundBar 3000 to a Panasonic plasma HD and everything works and sounds great and I was able to program the tv's Panasonic remote to use on the SurroundBar.
I do have a problem programming the DirectTV all in one remote. I follow the procedure from the manual and the volume up workson the SurroundBar, but when I program the volume down and mute they actually raise the volume instead of lowering or muting it.
Is there a different procedure that might work on this remote?

I've seen this problem in lots of places but no one ever provides a solution. Is there one?

Usually there are variety of codes you can try, have you tried another code for a different Polk product on DirecTVs website? It took several tries to find a Mitsubishi code that would actually control (most) everything correctly for my tv.
For what it's worth, throwing $60 at a logitech harmony remote is WELL worth it. It controls all of my devices flawlessly and is very customizable. It's hard to imagine life without it now.
