New Monitor 70

Hey quick question. I just purchased a new pair of monitor 70's and hooked them up, standard no bi-amping 110 sub, cs2 center and advent rears. I let them play at various levels for several hours. I am using a Pioneer 5.1 VSX series receiver. The first time that I really turned up the volume I lost all highs from both speakers. I cant imagine blowing both tweeters or cross overs at the same time. I thought it was the receiver so I switched back to my old speakers and they worked fine. I have contacted the seller and they were shipped back. I just dont know if I should try another pair of these or not? Has anyone else had any issues with these speakers?
thanks
thanks

Is this receiver just not up to pushing enough clean power to these. I did not even have them up over 50% to 75% when they went out. No clipping that I could hear. any thoughts on this?

Same thing happened to me. Had the monitor 70 series ii for six weeks and loved them. Last night lost all "highs' as you described and volume at same level is only 25% of what it was before this incident. Are they 'blown'? Bought from new egg so do i contact new egg or polk.
Thanks for your help.

I have had one of my M70 tweets become disconnected on me... I now have all of the connections soldered.

Welcome to Club Polk. I own several Polk Monitor speakers and have used them with several different Pioneer receivers. I've never experienced the sort of problem you have experienced. When you lost your highs, I suspect that the rear speaker terminal connectors may have gotten loose somehow.
At any rate, I would say that the Polk Monitors are excellent speakers and try another pair.
Welcome. I have a pair of Monitor 60's and need to leave the room before they will clip - very efficient..maybe something went in the crossover (but both speakers ?)...anyway - I love my monitors*************************
