Tron Legacy IMAX 3D

I just had the chance to view Tron Legacy, the sequel to the 1980's movie Tron, in IMAX 3D.
I have to say I'm rather disappointed after all the hype and wait. However, I was yet to be born when the first movie was released but I did get to see the movie in my youth.
Let's move on to the movie. The 3D effects did not really contribute to the movie and I would advise not seeing it in 3D and saving yourself the money. The 3D sure looked nice but it was not eyepopping as Avatar was or How to Train a Dragon. I won't divulge the plot, but it just seemed uncompelling and I'll leave it at that. The star performance I would have to give it to Michael Sheen who stole most of the scenes he was in but they were few and far between.
However, I may be talking to the younger crowd, the Daft Punk soundtrack was impressive and I had the chance to hear the soundtrack and they don't let you down. I just wished it was louder! However, their music was again not enough to redeem the movie and (I thought) was underutilized (probably because I just want more!) and did not blend well with the scenes. I would have to compare it to Social Network's music done by Trent Reznor which left me reeling scene by scene and pleasantly surprised by how well it was done.
If you're a Daft Punk fan, yes see it but certainly not in 3D. If you're a Tron fan, you have to see it and see the conclusion to it all. Those on the fence, it can go either way for you.

Well just got out of seeing it. First thing first the 3d was not worth it at all. About 10% or the movie was in 3d and I do not know if it was me or not but things seemed blurry. Second it was a good movie just wanted more I don't know but just seemed draped out a bit. I have a small suspicion they will be making another one.HT setup

Can't say I didn't try to warn you!
It didn't seem blurry to me, but my eyes had trouble focusing at times. Maybe 3D just isn't for me.
It was decent, but all the hype around it, I imagined it to be more compelling. I just didn't care at all for Sam. Probably will make another if this one is successful. Hope it just doesn't take another 28 years.2Ch Tube Audio Convert -
Personally I found it quite enjoyable, but I was a massive fan of the original (though not born when it came out). As a Geek/Nerd/Computer guy its not surprising though. I am glad that they didn't push the whole love possibility with the movie like they could have.
That and as my friend commented, "I loved the movie, but damn it the light cycles should still only do 90 degree turns". ROTFLMAO :biggrin: The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the texturing on the face of the younger Jeff Bridges. As a graphic animation major I just cant believe they couldn't do better with that."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Totally agree with everything you said ES. The CG face missed. Not by a little. By a lot.
I loved everything else. Music, Graphics, Acting, and even the story. Saw it in IMAX 3D. Glad I did.
I have yet to find a positive review of the film, but thats par for the course. I know a good movie by reversing critics reviews ratings. They are always negative correlation to my preferences.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
It really seemed thrown together. It didn't go deep into the possibility of 3d, the actions scenes were toned down to get a pg rating and there could have been a deeper story, but it only worked the surface. I think its just the lastest run at selling toys and cartoons to kids. It was dissappointing, but I know I will be buying my 7 year old the toys for his birthday.Mains - LSi9's

I'm taking the kiddies this week and hope I can find it in the non 3-D version, mainly because I am cheap and one of the kids is colorblind.

I'm on my third trip through the soundtrack. I really am enjoying it.
Tell me more. I've been a fan of Daft Punk for about 15 years and have yet to pick up this up. Really have no interest in the movie, but I hear the soundtrack is pretty much perfect for the flick.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
The soundtrack is really integral to the experience (and kevhed72, if you can flip the bill for 3D IMAX, try it!).
YouTube Tron Soundtrack for a taste of the score. Then buy it on Amazon like I did. Totally worth it.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
Two words..................OLIVIA WILDE!Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!!
-
Brought my son to see it today. While he (at 7) enjoyed it, and it did have some cool parts, they should've/could've done more with the storyline and just a better job of writing it. I agree with mrbiron - Olivia was the best part of the movie...... ><////(*>
-
I agree Olivia Wilde was nice. The songs in the movie was good and it had some great visuals, but I thought it had potential to be a lot better. I saw it in the IMAX, but didn't think there were very many affects that made it worth it for 3-D.Setup:

Tron Legacy is good movie to watch.I watch this film on internet.Good thing about the film is all action of this film is very good. They have shown new sport to play. The bikes in the movie are really cool.I like both actors of this movie Jeff Bridges and Garrett Hedlund. The story of the film was not much impressive. Thanks
-
Just got back and other then it being a bit too long with not enough action to carry it, it was very good. Good effects, great score and some really hot babes.If...

I would have to say the "experience" is cool. The journey through the grid and what not. Course, there were the babes (might be the main reason ).2Ch Tube Audio Convert -
Just saw it in 2D....give it a C. Some good, mindless entertainment. Good special effects and some nice eye candy. The kiddies loved it, so it was worth the price of admission in that respect. I can see where it would be much cooler in 3D.
-
Saw this on IMAX 3D last weekend and loved it (which is especially satisfying since I'm often criticized for not being able to enjoy popcorn action, and this can't be described as anything but since the plot was horrible but it was still enjoyable)If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
-
I really enjoyed it myself. I would like to see it non 3D though. Will wait for blu-ray I guess!

I really enjoy the soundtrack to this movie on my system it really tests your sub in some parts. I saw the movie a second time and enjoyed it a bit more than the first.HT setup

Picked this up on Blu Ray. I enjoyed it alot more than in the theater. The score by Daft Punk added a whole new dimension to it! I need to pick this up on CD. The club scene with Sam and Gem (hot chickie in white suit), Daft Punk's "End of Line" song begs to be unleashed on everyones Home Theater! Such a great scene!

I forgot I had this on pre-order, it should up several days ago. I heard that it has a shifting AR how is it? Is it a distraction? I haven't gotten a chance to spin the disc yet and before I open it up I'm curious. I hate when they do that, like with that last Batman film.
Oh, and yes, the soundtrack is excellent. I will buy it, but right now I cannot stop spinning the Sucker Punch soundtrack.If...
