Audioholics Trolls

Most who know me, and met me in person, know me to be of a laid back type. It takes alot to draw my ire, espescially on the internet.

I suppose I hit that point.

I think we all know deep down that a number of Audioholics members have purposely been coming here and stirring the pot. I would say the "Accoustimass" thread would be the cherry on the cake i call proof.

It's time to make a stand gentleman (and the occasional lady). I am calling a spade a spade here and I am fed up with it. I know some have made mention that they have PM's of certain members making mention of "flushing the sh** from Club Polk". I am asking that they please forward it to me....upon request your ID will be kept secret, you have my word on that.

Some onus is on us as well to not fall for it. Traditional trolling is far less effective if we spot it for what it is early, though some of the way they have been doing it has been hard to avoid, I grant you this.

any thoughts?

The best way to make someone insignificant, is to ignore them---completely. Why even waste a moment of your time? Who cares what a troll thinks.

Exactly. Particularly those from other boards. I couldn't give a half of a **** what they have to say.

Believe me gentleman, I am in your camp about 85-90% of the time, but it has been getting downright ridiculous as of late.

also, the fact that it is organized from one specific site seems to be what is chapping my *ss. The individual trolls bother me not....the organized effort does.

I agree with Steve. I think we should treat people as we would in person. It's far to easy to get self-righteous to a faceless moniker making statements you don't agree with. I say either ignore them, or like tony did in the acoustimass thread, ask a person's intentions for posting. For now I think we can put down the torches and pitchforks and call off the townspeople.

Pulling out the banhammer only reinforces their cause. Let them do whatever trolls do, and we'll just ignore their comments if they're not worth commenting on. Life's too short to get pissed off at some comments on this forum. Just know that whatever you do, they'll come back. and come back. and come back.

Additionally, who will be the arbiter of justice? you? will we have to vote? it seems to me thats what the moderators are for, and personally, I feel they do a great job. They let people hash crap out on their own. We dont need any cyber-vigilantism. I love it here because you have the right to say as you please, whether it's intelligible or not. You can be the biggest a-hole on earth (i'm sure some of you have people in mind), or a a charitable saint. You have the right to be crotchety, pissed off, happy, indifferent, or any of a million things. But like it or not, with those beautiful rights comes the certainty that at some point you will be offended, and I'm ok with that.

I admit, it can be mildly irratating--but if they get no reaction, where's the fun it that?

There is also the element of, by paying attention to them--you basically admit that their opinon matters, on some level.

Look gents, it's the internet, scumbags abound, your best bet is as said, either ignore them, or call them out. I like to practice alittle of both.

I realize Ive only been a member for slightly over a year, so I may not have any sense of history on this subject. I think that if there is a legitimate threat to the civility of the forum, the moderators would be able to see that. I understand it being a nuisance, I just don't see the invasion that you are portraying. Again, this could be something that you have dealt with in the past and I am just ignorant to.

perhaps the mods could comment on the subject...

Funny I posted the exact same question asked by a audioholics member here,, on their site and was banned for life for trolling LOL.....the exact same question word for word......seems like they take potential trolling to a new level........................

I gave my reason for the ban in the thread. It was that the question was already asked and answered. I concurred with RussMan's assessment: that Wiki was trolling. When I saw the same exact thing pop up over at AH I had my suspicions confirmed.

Initially I thought it was Wiki using another handle. Then I found out it was a totally different coward.
