Why unfinished box set?

I see so many unfinished box sets and I just have to ask why? I know for money but why would any normal person by a half completed box set of Harry Potter or others before the series is done.

Resident Evil
Harry Potter
Trasformers
Saw "Now can be finished"
and others

Why? Money? Just to make people mad to have too rebuy again?

I don't buy box set for one reason and one reason only, If one disk is bad you have to take the whole set back (what's the warranty a week or something like that if there even is one), and if a disk go's bad in 6 month's or a year your screwed you have to buy the whole thing again.

I have never seen a disk go bad but that is besides the point I am trying to make.

I get it. And how long did it take Star Wars to get finished? You can wait 20 -30 years but I chose not to.

Well, star wars and harry potter are different. seven books were written, no more ever planned. six movies released on dvd, one in theaters and one more planned. It's obvious that this will be completed in a few years, there is no sense in buying the box set now unless it has extra room for the two dvds that will be released shortly.

If you like the boxes and whatnot, I think it's dumb to buy an incomplete set when you know for sure more are coming soon. However, a lot of times you do not know that more are coming (Indiana Jones).

None are completed as you all know. So stupid IMO

So you get this one they are 50 bucks each and you buy each one than what happens when the box set comes out they come out with all of them in two editions the ultimate and the normal like LOTR's?
