i have a squeezebox classic..one of the best things i've purchased..it does have it's flaws...sometimes, not predictably i get a loud static sound..enough to get me a little worried about my r198's:eek:...at first i thought it might be my amp getting sick...maybe a pwr trnstr or a cap..then one time it happened, i was looking at the SB vu meter and it spiked..always on the right.
so, i'm pretty sure the noise is generating upstream... are the older linsys routers prone to noise? is it worth replacing? with what?
thanks polkies!

How would the router generate noise in the digital stream? It's all in the digital domain, so it's not really possible.Main Surround -

Den - Rotel RSP-1068 / Threshold CAS-2 / Boston VR-M60 / BDP-05FD -
It wouldn't generate noise, but it's lack of performance could cause it.
Of course, if you are running wireless, I'd run a hard line and see if it improves."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
I would have intermittent issues with my squeezebox duet until I got this:

It has very good QOS and a lot of other features.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -
If it's a WRT54G, flash it to DD-WRT and set up QoS. I have it set up and my torrents don't affect my other network services...Main Surround -

I use the same one and have no issues. I also use a powerline and have some hardwired of that. Makes a little better connection. mainly use that for online games and netflix
