What are you listening too, Boy George?

Seriously, the choices of music [and opinions thereof] vary as greatly as the beings in the depths of the ocean. What you may like in terms of music varies greatly from one person to another.

I can't say that my wife dogs me about my choice in music, as she enjoys most of what I listen to and vise-versa. That said, are you playing what you like too loud to where she can't even concentrate on what she may be doing?

When criticized, I remind her of her stint of listening to the Backstreet Boys! Crushed and cowering, she then beats a hasty retreat!

Ask her why she's making observations about your music selection, and not in the kitchen making you a turkey pot pie.:wink:

Not married, but I've gotten that from various women in the past. Usually just joking but... the idiotic notion that musical (or even movie) tastes are a representation of ones manliness or lack thereof is ingrained in some of even the smartest people of both genders, unfortunately.
The Big Lebowski: What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski?
..... Is it being prepared to do the right thing, whatever the cost? Isn't that what makes a man?
The Dude: Hmmm... Sure, that and a pair of testicles.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Let it go in one ear and out the other. My wife and I have pretty much the same musical tastes with exception of a few. Usually goes like this....

Wife- Do you mind if I play ****, I know you don't like it....
    Me- So,play it
Wife- Just for a little bit,ok?
Me- You live here too don't ya ?
    Wife- Well yeah, but....
Me- Play the damn thing already !
Wife- Sure you won't be mad....
Me- I'm gonna be pissed now if you don't play it.
Wife- Well, ok then, just for a few minutes
Me- Sighs, then go off to play on the computer

My wife can't stand a lot of the music I listen to. But then we also like a lot of the same kind of songs/artists/genres as well. She knows I listen to a wide variety of music and doesn't comment on anything I'm listening to except to say "ITS TOO LOUD!!" (even when on 2)

My ex always hated my metal. Pantera, Hatebreed, etc.

I tried to respect her tastes and only listen to it when I was in the car alone, but there were some days that were so rough at work that they necessitated a little metal time when I'd get home.

I'm single now, but in a condo, so I can't turn it up to 11 anymore.

My wife is strictly a smooth jazz or early 80's hair band person.
Any old rock or real jazz gets me the same treatment.
I have taken over son#2's bedroom for my system, and when I really
    want to go nuts, headphones!!!!!

My wife doesnt bother me when it comes to music. She doesnt even walk into the room because most times its dim lighting, my eyes are closed and I am in the zone. She just knows not to disturb me unless its really important. Music is one of my passions, if it is yours then your wife should understand it and thank herself for finding a man who is comfortable with himself and loves all types of music. I think they called that being cultured.

Have you seen her sister ? A twin to Rosanne Barr. His wife would laugh him out of the room and say "go for it".
