Now I have something to do while the wife is at work tomorrow.....:)....

Will try to take a notebook to write down what I find so we can all share the love... :)

Did they have any of it hooked up to where you could listen to the speakers/receivers or was it just what you see is what you get?

I don't know... i know they were hooking up the car audio stuff to demo, but don't know about home audio. They did have more than enough home audio gear to make a couple hundred different setups, though.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Those LS50's stuck out right away when I opened this thread up.

If I were you though, I'd probably pass on them as well. I hate when I've got too many things sitting there unused.

Yeah, after research, the LS50s and the Pio Elite changer were the only things that are still that interesting to me. I believe someone on here is already going to pick up the changer, and i'd imagine that one of the other locals will get the LS50s.

But hey, now that i know this place is here.... you, chris, and i have a place to go next time you're all in town.

Doesn't surprise me, I would've bought the LS50's just for the hell of it...then later complain that I have no space for them

No kidding! I miss all the cool **** I'd find out in the midwest. I wouldn't mind flying out there when funds are no problem at all. I'll just have to remember the allergy pills. Your cats are funny as hell, but they get me sneezing like no other just after a good 2hours+ at your place.

If you want em you get first dibs. I might want to go see them in person just to see them....

Maybe if I have enough cash I might debate it if your not wanting them, but my wife isnt too keen on getting any more speakers. But I have my ways to persuade her

It's nice to make good/smart purchases then use the item/s and have the opportunity to sell them with minimum loss or no loss at all.

Being smart/knowledgeable is critical of course and there is no doubt we have a lot of dumb asses around.

Just an opinion from a Rhode Island guy

The B&K St-140 was my first real amp and jump into separates. I loved it. And I would say it leans more towards neutral. Bordering closely to warm. Has a very nice midrange. Almost tube like. I've actually been thinking about picking one up for a new rig..

But at $190... I'm not sure.. A few years ago you could snatch one up for $150 all day long.. Haven't looked around much lately to see what there going for now. But If you add shipping to that your right at $190 give or take.. So I dunno... Up to you. I don't think its a steal by no means though..

I've heard both. The onkyo you have and the B&K. And my moneys on the B&K. I'd say try it. If you don't like it sell it and recoup your money..

And yes. The B&K is not 4ohm stable as far as I can remember..

    Hopes this helps..

While I might go see them, I think buying is out of the question. We just did a switch so now he's got my Denon 1610 and a pair of Infinity Studio Monitor 185's and I got his HK 3490. Fair deal both ways IMHO.

His buddy picked up a computer I have been trying to sell for 250, but I am looking to get a set of Beyerdynamic DT-770's and then I have all I need for a bit.

Still wanting dual SVS PC-12NSD's in the future and a pair of car amps, and LSi's

I was surprised at how.... small they were. From pictures, they look quite a big bigger. They weren't much bigger than the LS50s. They were wider, but that was about it.

The finish on the LS50s looks WAY better in person than in pictures. I never really got excited about their looks (which doesn't really matter) in pictures, but that's a beautiful finish that i wish Polk would bring back. In my "old age" i'm starting to move away from the "if it's not black i don't like it" stage, and i could definitely get behind some rosewood finishes. Maybe a full Pio Elite rosewood setup with some Rosewood LS90s? I did notice that the finish on the LS50s EXACTLY matched the finish on the Elite Changer, and that was pretty neat.

I have a feeling that the B&K amp is the one that i should be taking a long hard look at. That's a pretty warm sounding amp, correct? I've been itching on and off to replace my trusty Oinker for the last year or so.

Ding ding ding. $190 is actually about right for a B&K ST140 from what I've seen them running on the 'Gon and other places lately. Factor in the lack of shipping costs as Nik eledud to and it's not that bad of a price at all. As others have noted B&K's tend to sound a little bit on the tube side of things and that's good in my book. It's a very good, warm sounding amp. with great soundstage. I've also owned an Onkyo 501 and I would take the B&K all day long over it going away. See if you can talk the owners down to say $175 and you'll have yourself a good deal on one heck of a damn good amp.

Yeah, dont know if you would be able to wire both of the S6's together for a center w/o overloading that Denon, otherwise I would suggest that.

One thing to remember is that those pawn shops are very good buyers and have enough profit in those posted prices to come down a bunch and still win. Don't be bashful countering them.

If all of you Indy guys rush in and express interest in the same items, all bets are off so be a little discrete.

thats very true. rarely do i go to a pawnshop and find anything that i ask about. typically unless its in really good condition and at a great price (i got my psw125 for $60 bc it was untested w 30 day warranty) i dont even bother. if its a set of paradigm floorstanders with creases in the cones and the boxes are dinged up and $250 for the pair, i will obviously pass. i do not inquire about anything unless i am genuinely interested in buying it.

btw most of the speakers there were in *ok* condition and covered in dirt. a few sets were nice, but overpriced IMHO. im not payin $249.99 for a set of *ok* condition klipsch bookshelves no matter what the f*ck they are in a pawn shop lol

i believe they refer to that as being an "e-thug". knowing ben and how he is, and having whats happened between us happen (no homo roflmao) and still being able to talk amongst each other says a lot about him. idk why he is getting attacked in multiple threads like he is, ben is a big teddy bear, and just overall a good guy. makes no sense why someone would attack him on an audio forum. now, a car forum, well... Toyota sucks
