Hello, I purchased a PSW110 Subwoffer to go with my Polk 360 Surround Bar DVD Player. The problem is that I have to turn the volume control on the subwoffer to at least 3/4 to 100 % on before the unit starts putting out any sound. Is this normal when trying to watch movies or shows coming thru tv stations? It is only supposed to work better when watching DVD's thru the 360 Surround Bar unit? I hooked the subwoffer up according to the wiring instructions that came with the 360 Unit. I used a subwoofer RCA cable and hooked it up sub out on the DVD player to Line In on the PSW110. Do I have a problem with the unit itself?

Subs are met to get pre level signal in order to work efficiently. IMO your problem is simply because you have it hooked up straight to the sub amp rather than going through a pre-amp before going through the sub amp. Try your sub through any gear that has pre-outs to prove this. IE, last year when demoying Polk Hitmaster I noticed some of the sort if it was used straight from game consoles or TV out without going through AVR or mixing console. The same occured with my PSW110 as I took it of my AVR and used it on my upstair's livingroom TV which doesn't use any AVR. However, if I used my mixing console in the chain, the pre-out level supplied a strong enough output level for the subwoofer amp which could then be used at approx. noon on the volume control.

    Cheers!

Just keep in mind the OP mentions the sub is working as the only problem is that he needs to crank it up.

EDIT: I did not notice originally but now I realize you are spamming this site with your mortgage link! I wonder how many member identity you will use before you realize such is not welcome here at Club Polk?

    Cheers!
