Very good speakers that will change your mind about "needing" towers.

Haha no, I'm not going to wharton, currently looking at a variety of schools, I've applied to Northwestern, Columbia, Stanford, Duke, Penn, Williams, and UW, and I will be applying to UBC (British Columbia), University of Miami (great jazz and meteorology), and University of Oklahoma. Really into meteorology and jazz, probably want to major in physics with a minor in music and then go to graduate school and focus on meteorology. As far as buying super expensive speakers goes, I'm pretty thrifty everywhere else. No car (epilepsy), which sucks, but hey, I'm not paying those ridiculous insurance rates for teenagers. And, if I don't like them or it turns out I can't really take them to college, I can always sell them back.

They're actually not huge. They sound huge. But i'd be much more comfortable travelling with them than my larger monitors, just keep the materials I pack them with if you end up buying. Sending a PM along

Those are the right kind of parents to have... and happy B-Day! If you can swing the price (and you plan on having trustworthy roommates ) there's probably no better speaker for a small space like a dorm room or small apartment.

And yep, I'm in North Seattle. I moved here after graduating college. There are actually quite a few guys in Club Polk who are in the Pac NW, and there's been some talk about a get-together this spring in the Seattle area.

Yeah, we'll see about the parents part though, they gave me this gold coin for my birthday, which is awesome cause now I feel like I'm a 16th century mercantilist, but unfortunately you can't really use a gold coin for anything fun and I'm definitely not going to sell it. I will be paying for most of this on my own. I've been trying to get some good bookshelves for a really long time and my parents are sick of me talking about it.

I'm a hardcore jazz musician though, and while I see how hard it is to make a living, gigs that pay 50 or 100 dollars are fun and pay dividends.

I think these speakers will suit your musicality needs quite well, since i'm assuming you like to listen to jazz as well as perform it. The bass end of the spectrum is tight and fast, and goes lower than any other bookshelf I have heard, so it will pick up a lot more of the upright bass that lesser speakers might not be able to replicate in a jazz piece. The top end has a bit of a sparkling quality to it as well, great for brass. Sorry that I can't really drop the price, i'm around your age as well so I definitely understand trying to be an audiophile on a tight budget!

I hate to tease you, but I am really interested.
    Unfortunately, I live in Toronto.
I wish the drive was not so far.
I keep going back to the thread to see if they have been sold.
Maybe The Leafs will bring them back for me when they come to play The Bruins this week.

I was going to offer to drive to Syracuse but I believe it would cost $75 in gas, not counting tolls, so that's out! Have any friends in upstate New York or Detroit? I'm from Detroit actually. If you know anyone well enough across the border I could ship the speakers to them and then you could pick them up. The idea would be to avoid shipping customs, which I suspect might be brutal on an expensive pair of speakers. Otherwise, if I still have them the next time I drive back to Michigan I will let you know, we take the route across New York and by Lake Erie

I was trying hard to buy these speakers.
The seller worked very hard and the communication was excellent.
Unfortunately, I live in Toronto and we just couldn't connect.
    These are awesome speakers.
    Don't miss this opportunity.

Thanks Glen, if I still lived in Michigan they would already be yours! I just wish that it wasn't such a drive, or that it wouldn't cost so much to ship through customs.

I ended up buying a pair of BE 718's new in Toronto.
    They are incredible speakers !!!!!!
I had been running a pair of Polk LSi15's and was happy with them.
I would say the improvenment on a scale of 1 to 10 is 12.
This is a great deal for $1400.00
