Usher BE-718

Putting my babies up for sale, a pair of the US version of Usher BE-718's. There are reviews everywhere lavishing praise on these Stereophile Class A monitors, and it is well deserved. They go exceptionally low for their stature, and the high end is liquid smooth and very detailed without being "etchy". Imaging is fantastic.

My pair are in great condition and include the grills and jumpers, one of the two speakers has a flaw where the original owner made a mistake attaching them to his stands - there is a chip around the edge of the hole where you can attach bolts, on the bottom of the speaker. Obviously it's not visible normally and I never screwed the speakers to the stands so in most cases it won't matter.

Asking $1500 for these beauties. They are low efficiency but I had good results with a 145w Parasound amp

Why didn't you use them screwed to the stands? It makes a huge difference. Just wondering.

    Nice speakers.

I like to be able to make slight toe adjustments without moving the stands (they are spiked, carpeted rooms). Plus they are very sturdy on the stands I use, which are below:

Didn't much care for the Usher stands I looked at, and these worked quite well, so I never thought to try it screwed.

OK, figured you used the optional stands. They had two versions, one cooler than the other, both with the same setup, adjustment and alignment....just different aesthetics. I'm a big Usher fan and covered everything from the BE series bookends, X and S.

Do you at least Blu-Tack them to the stands?

Haven't tried it actually. These stands are made by Skylan, I love them aesthetically.

Might I ask if you've heard the Diamond version, and what your thoughts are on the X vs the BE-718?

Yep, know the stands, they're very nice and well built. Shot loaded? or capable? I'm listening to a Diamond version now and as far as the X vs Be....they're both very nice.

Filled with oven dried sand for now, I move often now so until I get a house I can't make them ideal. I can imagine they would weigh 100 lbs with shot. How do you like the diamond tweeter? I really love the BE's, the upper frequencies especially, my Wilson's just don't have that smoothness. I had planned on keeping these around until I purchase a house and set up a theater room to really put them to the test, but am in need of money right now so here they are.

I bought them entirely on the strength of their reviews, without listening to them, and love them at ANY price point, I hope this is a good enough deal for someone to be interested, if not i'll throw in some bi-wire cables

With four(?) columns, yeah they'd be heavy as hell, lol. The top end on the Usher's is real smooth and I've liked all the variations I've heard so far. In regards to the Diamond it's what I missed from the Be, which was a better transition from midrange to the sparkling high end. The Be has a dip for me that I can't quite put my finger on but the Diamond in itself is different but the changed the slope. This may have halped the Be....hell who knows, as I'm just a listener.

This is an excellent loudspeaker and as far as a manufacturer, has been the fun to listen to in awhile. My end speaker will be where I started, another pair of Magnepan 3.5(6) but bookends are where I LOVE to experiment and play around and this brand is a must have experience at some point.

Better pics. I'd call them 8/10 because of the screw thing, they are excellent. The grills are perfect, I kept them tucked away and did not use them.

Good luck on the sale these are excellent speakers I bought a pair of X series from Doro and haven't looked back since if it wasn't Christmas I would have tried my hardest to snag these. Whoever picks these up will be a happy camper.

Thanks! If they don't sell I certainly won't be suffering by keeping them  and if they DO then I plan on buying another pair of Usher's in a year or so

Guys, I'd just like to vouch here for Usher's speakers. I believe the seller is offering the "Tiny Dancers" as they are commonly referred to, no? Anyways, Ushers are the dope $*it for sure. I have a pair of the CP-6311's and they are keepers[/I without a doubt. I am absolutely in love with these speakers!
My stereo system: Usher CP-6311, Denon AVP-8000, Adcom GFA-555II, Sony CP-C725, Furman PL-Plus.

Built and gave this system to my dad: B&W CDM-1SE atop Krell LAT-2 stands, Proceed PAV-S, Adcom GFA-555II, Denon DVD-2500.

I heard a pair of these speakers a couple of years ago and was floored by how smooth and musical they are. That beryllium tweeter is fantastic!

I have a vehicle that's working but it has 220k miles, i'm just trying to get a good amount of cash set aside so that when a deal pops up (or the transmission goes bad) I can go for it, hopefully before winter is over, but i'm not really desperate. I'd still like to sell to a member of Polk instead of from Audiogon, and I am still attached to these things despite the Wilson's I have, but eventually they will make their way either there or to ebay for some stranger to grab.

That's understood as I had trouble selling mine as well. It's an awesome loudspeaker, from top to bottom.

If it helps ease anyone's concerns, the amp I purchased from SM88 was received in absolutely mint condition, I believe he rated it as an 8/10, but it was much closer to a 9/10 and near perfect. I would love to listen to some Ushers, but I have too many wants and projects on the way already.
