My smartphone is killing my eyesight.

Maybe it's just coincidental, but for the past several months, I seem to be using my phone for more and more things, and even after just a few minutes, everything else becomes blurry once I put it down. It seems to be taking longer and longer for my eyes to recover. I had my vision tested in May, and I believe it was at least 20/20, and possibly a bit better. Anybody else experiencing this?

You may just need to blink more. My eyes get soar when looking at LCDs and its usually because you stop blinking.

You're getting old... or your eyes are at least. The lens is not changing it's shape as rapidly as it used to.SystemLuxman L-590AXII Integrated Amplifier|KEF Reference 1 Loudspeakers|PS Audio Directream Jr|Sansui TU-9900 Tuner|TEAC A-6100 RtR|Nakamichi RX-202 Cassette

Yeah, which is why I said maybe it's coincidental...
Dang, I always liked not needing glasses. -
Eat more spinach ;-) At least that's what my eye doc says will help slow down vision changes as you get older. I'm just glad that it's easy to zoom in with my Droid phone, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see the really small stuff.DKG999

I yam what I yam! I think I'll try the spinach - couldn't hurt!
I can zoom just fine. It's not that I'm having difficulty reading small print, just once I take my eyes off the phone screen and look at stuff from a "normal" distance, everything seems blurry... -
Eyestrain due to smartphones and computer monitors
are becoming prevalent with all of these new devices.
There are even studies possibly linking eye and brain cancer to their use
and also headaches.
Ironically I found software that lock one's device forcing one to take a five minute break every 30 minutes of continual use. I'm sure there are alot of similar apps out there

Funny thing is when I play games on my ps3, I sometimes don't blink and my eyes turn into Niagara Falls.

What phone do you use? Are you 40 years old? My wifes eyes changed when she hit 40. I've had glasses since I was 12 so I cant say. We are thinking about new phones soon. I have a Iphone 4 and the display is so clear and clean I don't get any eye strain. I also zoom in on things that are to small to see. I use my Iphone for hours a day with no problems.
I'm 40 years young.Dan

I don't think it's a matter of the display quality at all. I've played around with smartphones for several years now. I think it's finally just catching up to me at 44. Time to go to an eye doctor, I guess.
