no, I barely got them in the house then drove down to the hospital to hang out with my wife. They think she'll be in there another 3-7 days so i wont have much time to take them apart and work on them. She's been in here since almost halloween and im either here or at work unfortunately. But when I get her home I'll have more time to play around.

Leroy, were you the "other guy from wisconsin" calling about these speakers that the seller mentioned?

Kept asking for pictures but he didn't send any. Would've been nice to hear them as the SRT's and 5000p's were the only two sets I haven't heard from Polk. Just put together a brand new HT system myself so I wasn't really pushing him.

Yep I figured it was you :)
Thanks again for the heads up on these.

The camera thing doesnt surprise me. The seller was a really old Israeli gentleman living with about 10 family members (rogers park has a strong jewish community). super friendly. but theyre all moving to Nevada and so they were selling everything in the house so they were all following me around showing me everything they had for sale, then theyd scamper off to return with their arms full of more stuff.

Congrats newrival!!! Man I miss craiglook.com!!! I have an excellent sounding set that look like an ugly stepsister. I would have bought them in a heartbeat at that price for parts and cabinets. Some heavy speakers eh? <G> I had to act like the sub section wasn't heavy as I moved them downstairs past my wife. I am just glad she is a wonderful person. Seriously enjoy some FUN speakers.

Also, there is a member here that was selling a spare amp at a reasonable price for the sub...as far as I know he didn't sell it to the last person with a buzz.

    Thanks!

I'm excited to get these set up and running right! I'll tell you that center is worth the price I paid for the whole system. It's a killer center channel. I've never heard the RT3000p's before but i heard some nice potential in there when i disconnected the sub section. the surrounds seem impressive as well. But hopefully I'll be confirming that soon enough.

They were some heavy speakers! although after lugging my SDA SRS's (~200lb) up to the 2nd floor by myself everything seems light

Do you remember who was selling the amp?

Just so you know, we have a place for this kind of stuff elsewhere called deals of the day or some such.

Many don't browse the deals of the day thread. Bringing it to the forefront gets a lot more exposure and well worth the start of a thread.

I have to say, I'm happy this wasn't posted in the deals of the day section!
I think when the deal demands extra attention, it seems appropriate for it to have its own thread

Deals of the day was put in the Clubhouse as a sticky specifically so people would know where to look and so that other sections of the forum didn't get spammed with threads like this.

Don't make me sic Ken on ya.

The speakers are now sitting in my living room. To clarify, the sale was for the complete RT-5000p system including RT3000p 2-piece mains, fx1000p surrounds, and CS1000p center. Physically, the speakers look brand new. sharp corners, no delamination anywhere, no pulls in grills, no broken grill pegs, and the rosewood is beatiful. Matches my Taylor acoustic guitar beautifully

    BUT there are issues, unfortunately:
    • loud hum in right subwoofer. perhaps the known grounding issue in the amplifier?
    • one blown VC in the left subwoofer
    • bridges for CS1000p binding posts missing

other than that they're great, and after auditioned them and we heard those issues, he knocked off a few hundred bucks from my initial price offer! crazy, but he insisted. My camera is charging so I can try to get some pics tonight.

Congrats! I'll bet they sound awesome. I've been running my HT with RT2000Ps, CS350LS & Rt/Fx from an NAD T765 and they rock the house. I can only imagine how good your big brothers sound.

Hope you two are doing well,

Here's a set-up plan or model to work on now..

My pics were elsewhere on the forum but I'll look for another not so good shot or two to show you my set-up now and it does sound great with both systems. I'll take some new ones to show how I use my Rt3000's and then my SDA-SRS2's beside them. It really does sound great in HT mode with the 3000's right beside the TV and stand.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

any updates yet newrival? don't be nervous...can't be much worse than this. I have cleaned the toys and put up a christmas tree. the towers are too tall for my current tv mount so they are not stacked and I put a cs400 in the fireplace because the 1000p is too wide. I have to admit, I have had them about a year, but only got them hooked up about 5 months ago with no surrounds yet. Finally watched a movie tonight...sweet...hope to hook up a blu ray over the holiday.

NICE set up Tony! I am envious of a clean set up. The WAF has kept me from mounting on the bricks and the kids keep me busy from wiring as well. my SDA 2.3 would never fit in the same room.

Give us an update...can it be worse than this???

I agree, but I did clean up the toys and put up a tree. And, compared to my old RT8 system a poorly set up pair of 3000p smokes em. all in time...

    Hey, guys

Hope yo all had a great Christmas! I started a new thread here. It's got some pics and some initial thoughts. But I agree with you guys, these things are pretty impressive on movies! And sound even better with a little help from my 15" titanic
