Anybody heard of Golden Ear Audio? If you have or if you haven't, there is a familiar face associated with the company that the old dogs of the forum might remember. Met the man himself tonight.

Can you guess who that person might be?

    It was discussed at Polkfest.

There was an article a few months back in one of the audio rags (I forget which one) that gave a nice heads up on his new company. Did you notice how they look very similar to the Def Tech Mythos? However his new line has a nice ribbon tweeter along with some new technologies. I'd like to hear them for sure.

Did you get a chance to listen to them when you met him?

Yes, I did. Trey and Russ were with me as well and they had made the same comment.

Yes, we did. He had his own separate rig/room and it was geared together with Transparent cables, an Audio Research CDP, and a Rotel pre and amplifier.

No. There was an audio event here at Audio Advisor down here in Charlotte, NC last night. Met folks from Stereophile, Audio Research, Transparent, Peachtree Audio, Golden Ear Technology and some others. I was there from about 7:00pm until they closed the doors. Afterward, some of us went to Tony Roma's for drinks and a dinner. It was a pretty good time and I met up with many other Charlotte area audio freaks.

Apparently, the speakers offered from Sandy Gross will be on display and available for demos for the next week. They have only been featured at one other place before in Raleigh, according to Sandy. That said, if you are in or around the Charlotte area and want to get your ears on them, stop by Audio Advisor and you can get your ears on them. At least for the next week, that is.

I have yet to hear these new models. They look like Def Tech Mythos series speakers with ribbon tweeters.
It's like Sandy Called Bob Carver and they got together and made these new models.

Bob thinks that Ribbon and Bipolar design speakers are where it's at, So does Sandy Gross. They sound team up and build the ultimate sounding speakers.

Alonso's was a corner watering hole with these heartattack on a plate, artery clogging burgers that took about 30 - 45 minutes to cook. Loco Hombre was the Mexican eatery next door. Some years ago they merged. The food is really good in either place. Soundscape is located right across the street and if memory serves me correctly I do believe they were Polk Audio dealer numero uno. Their owner and the Polk founders go way back. HTH
