Movie - Phone Booth

Watched this tonight, not impressed.

Soundtrack was average. I felt like I was watching a cross between 24 and the movie Mad City. Its simply a morality play that takes place basically, in a phone booth.

Colin Farrel is not the greatest actor, and his Irish accent peeks through in his performance a couple times. Keifer Sutherland gives a great voice over, but it is not very affecting.

Movie is also very short, but after what it is, how could they possibly make it any longer.

IMO - Don't buy, rent.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

This movie was really low budget, think of all the money they made off of it....

Here is the movie in a nutshell....

Guy in phone booth talking to guy on phone, pans to city with guy talking on the phone, pans back to phone booth....

Oh wait, I forgot about his wife, girlfriend, and the prostitutes...heh

major boring stuff here...at least it was short...

Tons of misinformation about the rifle and the ballistics. I hate it when they do stuff like that.

Like he keeps racking the action even though the rifle has already been fired and reloaded. What is he doing, ejecting live (unfired) rounds onto the floor just for fun and effect?

And he says the rifle is .30 caliber. OK.........that could be .308 Win, .30-06, .300 Win Mag, .300 Weatherby, .300 Ultra Mag....ad nauseum.

Then he says the exit wound will be about the size of a tangerine (or something like that). No argument with that, so where is the exit wound on the guy who he shoots in the back of the neck??

Then he says the hollowpoint will fragment on impact and the forensic specialists will not be able to tell whether the injury came from a 9mm hollowpoint handgun bullet or a .30 caliber hollowpoint high power rifle bullet. ****. The injury from a .30 caliber (any .30 caliber) hollowpoint high power rifle bullet will be so disgustingly large it could not possibly be confused with a handgun bullet by even the most moronic coroner.

He claims he is using a silencer. OK fine. A silencer will reduce the sound of the rifle firing from about 160 dB to maybe 130 dB - at best. Do you really think no one in the general area will notice a 130 dB rifle shot? And a silencer will do nothing to muffle the sonic boom created when the bullet breaks the sound barrier - that can be heard for at least a 1/2 mile. And all high power rifle bullets break the sound barrier (except the .300 Whisper and this movie is way to retarded to even know about that).

And then he shines a laser dot on the target, even though he has a perfectly good scope mounted to the rifle. The laser dot looked fake, and furthermore it gave his presence away to the cop. No self respecting sniper would ever use a laser dot, and they are not accurate at all distances anyway due to bullet trajectory.

This movie was a pant load from a shooter's perspective. Rant Over.

good points, Its kinda like every movie that puts a computer in the scene, Not one of them looks like its running windows xx and i have never seen the instant messenger they choose to use, albeit a really fake made up one at that, Movies should be more real/true to life.. although we liked this movie for what it was, if you don't over analize it, it had suspense// i guess

wow, this was pretty awful. I was going to see it in the theater just because Im a Katie Holmes fan ;) but held off because the critics tore into it. My sister rented it and I just saw it tonight. Not entertaining, IMO. Not to mention its an hour and 15 minutes. In a time where it seems movies (especially good ones) are becoming increasingly longer, there are many many films which are twice as long as this one, I think the question I am asking is where is the other half of this movie? not just in length, but also in content.

Cer - Yep, I thought that movie was not very good also.

It's weird, the movie seems such a waste of talent....or maybe I just don't get it...like a Woody Allen movie.

Keifer Sutherland is his normal dark self, albeit voice over, Katie Holmes is as cute as can be, but thats it, Forest Whitaker is his normal concerned but confused funny eyed self....nothing stood out to me in this film.

Watched it last night, enjoyable, worth a rental but not much replay value in this one. Tense at moments, but the ending was a let down. Of course, watching Radha Mitchell on screen is always a treat, she's a cutie!

    Peace Out~:D
