Hooking up to speakers to the same channel

Hi,
For my back speakers I hooked up two sets of M10 they are stacked on top of each other ( I had an extra set I'm thinking that I can point then in opposites directions for hopefully a better surround sound effect I had seen a set triangle shaped polks at Future shop so that's where I got the idea) my AVR is a HC 1600 50 watts per channel will this work?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

be aware of your resulting impedance / resistance

Will it work? Yes. Is it a good idea? probably not.

You probably have them hooked in parallel, resulting in a 4 ohms nominal impedance. You may slowly kill your receiver if you watch stuff with a lot of surround material. I'd just use one set, or get a 7.1 receiver so you can do a true surround and surround back setup.
    Main Surround -
    Epson 8350 Projector/ Elite Screens 120" / Pioneer Elite SC-35 / Sunfire Signature / Focal Chorus 716s / Focal Chorus CC / Polk MC80 / Polk PSW150 sub

    Bedroom - Sharp Aquos 70" 650 / Pioneer SC-1222k / Polk RT-55 / Polk CS-250

    Den - Rotel RSP-1068 / Threshold CAS-2 / Boston VR-M60 / BDP-05FD

    Bad idea.

Welcome to Club Polk rogerd

I agree with the above posters that you do not have anything to gain and everything to loose by doing this unless your AVR has pre-outs and you intend to use seperate amps or some form of interface to achieve this otherwise, you could damage either the AVR or speakers not counting that the SQ will more likely be crap.
