LSi's are a better speaker IMHO, so I would grab those. SDA"s however are the way to go for sonic bliss.

The biggest consideration would be available amplification. LSis are 4 ohm speakers and usually require a separate, high-current amp to get the most out of them. RTiA series are 8 ohms and thus, easier to drive, and might sound decent with just an AVR or smaller amp to drive them.

LSi15's are superior in every way. Make sure you have a good amp to drive them. The only reason to go with the RTi's is if you're only able to drive them with a receiver.

The 15's are tough to beat if you've got the proper amplification.

They are asking $1100. I can maybe offer them less if I see any imperfections. Driving out to Los Angeles to at least see them. I know the lsi need lots of power so what do I do if I get there and they only have an avr to audition them with. Wont they sound crappy?

1100 isnt that great of a deal. As an example you can get a pair of factory refurbed LSI25's from Polk Direct (vie their ebay site) for 1300 + shipping. The LSi's 15's go for less than that obviously, but you have to wait till a pair shows up.

Not saying not to do it, just saying thats probably about what you would pay for the 15's from Polks ebay site and that does include a warranty....

A9s if home theater is the main use of them. Those 7" drivers are a force to reckon with and sound great.

This would be mostly for hometheater use. 75% of use would be for movies.

I love LSi speakers but I am mainly a music listener. If you are 75% movies then you may want to go with the RtiA's. Many people do not like the matching LSiC center speaker, and you may be dissapointed with the "laid back" sound overall.

There are people (like myself) that think the exact opposite though. I could not stand the RTi tweeter (Rti6's - I read that the RTiA's tweeters are not as bright though) and love my LSi9's for music and movies. I think the LSiC sounds great too and prefer it to the CSi5 that I had.

Any chance you can head on over to Fry's or other dealer and have a listen?

The other things to consider is amplification. Do not drive the LSi15's with an AVR. It can be done for low volumes but it's a bad idea. You will need external amplification. This isn't a huge deal since you can get a decent entry external amp for $200-$300 used. However, if you already have an AVR and it doesn't have pre-outs then you must change your AVR too. Note that the RTiA7's or A9's will also benefit from external amplification.

LSi 15's for sure over any RTi line, but $1100 isn't a very good deal even if they are NIB. It's not the highest I've seen, but the seller isn't doing you any favors at that price, so keep that in mind.

Actually $1100 isn't too bad, offer $1K if they look and sound good. I'm used to people getting smoking deals. A friend got a nice used pair for $800.

Finally got back home. Well here's the outcome, I ended up buying the Lsi15 speakers. Final price....$850. Thats not all folks. Also included in the purchase was a mint Lsic and a Velodyne Dps-12 sub. The condition of the speakers are as follows; 15's are 7/10, the Lsic is a 9/10, and the sub is a 7/10. I want a chance to really play them but all I have is a Pioneer vsx-23 AVR. How'd I do guys?

Work on that AVR. Like the others said, get an external amp to drive the 15's. You won't regret it.

I'm not familiar with your AVR, but I would think you'd be okay short term if you keep the volume down.

Very nice deal for sure. Congrats!
