Bruce is one of them, I guess. I still don't get it.
I can begrudgingly accept that, hah.2 channel:

On further refection, I think I remember when I decided I didn't "get" Bruce Springsteen: It was the initial hype.
I was in high school in the Detroit area in the mid 1970's and was buying records like crazy, listening to "underground" stations like WABX and CJOM, and reading every copy of Creem, Trouser Press etc. that I could get my hands on. No MTV in those days.
All of a sudden everyone started talking about Bruce Springsteen and gushing about him. I heard and read "Springsteen is God!" several times, even from friends. I wondered what the heck could he and his music must be like to generate such gushing adoration.
I finally heard Springsteen at a friends house, what a letdown. I couldn't even think of what to say to my grinning friend who wanted to hear how I liked it.
You would think that after 35 years of being bombarded with Bruce and his music I would have figured it out. I still haven't. Maybe I just hold a grudge.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. One of his songs that is just flat out awesome and one of my all-time favs, Candy's Room. Such a kick-**** song.

Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
I am a big fan of Bruce's music and his live shows are amazing.
I respect the opinion of those who don't like him.
I don't get a number of artists..
I never understood the genius tag on Michael Jackson, Rush sucks, Geddy Lee's voice is like nails on a blackboard. I hate AC/DC, I puke when I hear ABBA, I hate rap, it sounds like someone nagging at me. I think Steve Miller is an overrated guitar player, and then there are all the artists that are great at self promotion but have little musical talent.. Madonna, Lady Gaga..I could go on and on.
Paul Simon said it best..

I never got the Springsteen thing back in the 70's either and then Born in the USA came out and it non-stop overplay. I hated it and the videos. In the last few years though I've really come to like his early stuff. I still have very little use for Born in the USA but I own all his early records up to Tunnel of Love. Nebraska was almost too laid back for me but I appreciate it for what he was trying to do. For me anything that gets massive pop radio airplay I just don't want to hear until it's been dead for a long time. I still can't stand anything Bryan Adams and he's from the same place I grew up in in Canada.SDA-1C (full mods)

I saw Bruce once in winter of '73/'74. It was a "wall of sound" experience. He opened for Wishbone Ash in Cleveland's Palace Theater. Only understood four words his entire set, "Kitty's back in town," but I came away thinking the kid had promise.
He still has a chance of making it big IMO....More later,
