I was re-connecting my mono amp to my AVR and forgot the amp was in stand-by. When I went to plug in the RCA cable my speaker made a horrific noise. I powered off the amp, but cobbexted the damn cable to the incorrect right plug, so when I powered evertyhing on my speaker had a fit again - damn!! Shute 'er down - made the corrections and everthing sounds normal, but how do I know if I damaged the drivers or the cross-over?

If you pull the crossover, any component on it that burned up should look burned/black with possible broken leads to the board.
Try the speakers with a different power source and see what they sound like. -
only time will tell.....
check your warranty period and if you are covered
continue to use and enjoy -
Seems as though it sounds O.K.

Ah, that nice soothing 60Hz hum. I think we've all done that at some point. As long as it was quick things should be fine.
