Take it easy, you remind me of my self when I retired from the Canadian Air Force, had to work right away (pride) while at the same time I had commitment revamping my house. Getting out involves a lot of changes in your life which you need time for your self. Take a deep breath just as I did snag the job I wanted then, you will too!! Enjoy for the very short time you have for your self. I am convinced they owe you vacation pay and whatever else you may call it in the US (x amount of days per year of service an so on) right? Don't rush to quickly and take the time to get a job that is taylored for you and that you will enjoy for many more years.

Congrats on the retirement, I did 27 years also in Aircraft maintenance. I was the enlisted project officer bringing the F-16 to Macdill AFB in Fl. Retired in 85 must of been about the time you went in. I guess we have 2 things in common Polk and the AF.

Take a couple of weeks to enjoy your new freedom. when you do start your new career don't let them see you sweat.
