    Pioneer plasma display final production run was the KRP500M models and production ceased in April of 2009 in the California assembly plant. Sad.

    I went with the 46inch panny and used the difference to get a decent hdmi cable. I expect that he will be watching football 24/7 during bowl week. Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the better choice!

    Monoprice.com is a great place to get cheap but good quality hdmi cables. Just my opinion, but there are plenty of other things to spend saved money on than a more expensive hdmi cable.

    Nice clean wall mount...attic mounted over the air antenna, etc. Unless he has cable with HD channels or a decent OTA antenna, he will be missing out on a lot of the advantages of HDTV sports watching.

    ^^^ he has DirectTV but connects it to an old 32inch tube. Thing has to weigh 200 pounds. I will make sure he gets the hd package.

    good choice with the plasma, for the same price/size its no question in my opinion..
