Yes... it is. You live in Chicago, where there is a three-vote minimum.:biggrin:The Gear... I'm just tired of being put in a position of voting against the crazy. I would like, just once in my adult life, to actually be able to vote for not-crazy, and who maybe even vaguely represents my point of view. Well, I can dream, can't I?Turntable: Empire 208

This is the day that we can truly celebrate our freedom and liberty!
I thought that was Independence Day?! Sorry, but I've yet to witness an election that warranted celebration.
With the exception of a few Penthouse POTM "elections".

We can celebrate it because we can actually exercise it!
As much as I hate to do this, the guy has a rock solid point.
Not only do we have the right to exercise it but we also have the right to not exercise it. If we don't like who is on the ballot, we have the right to run for election ourselves or nominate someone that we do think can do the job.
PLUS! We can say whatever we damn well please about it because that is another right we can exercise.
Is this a great place or what? :biggrin:Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I got out right after lunch...voting seemed very light to me at that time. I hope that's not a trend!
It's important to vote...but in my experience, I've rarely been happy with HOW the overall vote has gone--mostly because voter turn out in the U.S. is always so low compared to many other countries? Many people who really need to vote...just don't turn out. What a shame that is!

They need to make it so we can vote online. I'm sure the turnout would be a whole lot better, especially among my age group. Then again, the last thing we need is a bunch more liberal voters voting.
edit: I voted for Chewbacca last time. All the candidates suck.... the only people who make it far enough are the people who have the most money behind them. -

Jesus that's the stupidest idea in the world. As if there's not enough voter fraud going on, you want it online? If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Ideally speaking, yes. There are ways to stop fraud. Did I mention anywhere that we'd just go on a facebook page and hit 'like' or that it could happen overnight?
I'm glad that you took an extremely simplistic view and quickly disregarded the idea as stupid... do you still pay your bills by check? -
Wow if I was American I would have two very big reason's to vote Republican.

I'm sorry I took a simplistic view of your extremely complex and well-thought out thesis that we should be able to vote online. It's something I'm sure no one has ever thought of before! What a GENIUS you are for thinking outside the box and being so revolutionary! And what a moron I am for recognizing the obvious and overwhelming faults with the idea!If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

ha. sorry if I came off as an ****... "stupidest idea in the world" isn't the most subtle way to word a statement of opinion. The idea may have its pitfalls, but I certainly think that is where voting will take place in the future. -
I knwo. There are just a million things wrong with voting in this country, and moving it to the online realm opens up a whole NEW set of problems when the old ones haven't even come close to being dealt with.
Just the fact that it was deemed "Unconstitutional" to require a photo ID to vote... I mean, really? If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
bobman1235 wrote: »Just the fact that it was deemed "Unconstitutional" to require a photo ID to vote... I mean, really?
Last time I voted, it was in a small town and they literally had someone look up my name in a book and just crossed it out, then let me vote. Not really secure. I don't remember if they had me show ID or not. -
Bad things were here! Bad, bad things!

I still pay all my bills by check...whats wrong with that ? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Criminals are too tech savy these days to put all my info out there in cyber space. But hey,if it floats your boat,go for it. Crooks love your type, they don't need a gun to stick you up.HT SYSTEM-

It's slow, inconvenient, costs extra, and a pain in the ****?
And your fear of online banking is completely fabricated in your mind. You really think a piece of paper with all of your information on it flying across the country is SECURE?If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

More so than all that information sitting a user ID and password away from every 24/7 supercomputer dedicated to hacking and ID theft in the entire world. -

More secure than online banking ? Yes. Takes me 10 minutes to write out all my bills by check. You consider that slow ? Hell, most spend hours a day cruising youtube video's but won't take a couple minutes to write a check. Like I said, to each his own. One more thing, if your constantly looking for the easiest route in everything, life is gonna be a rough road for ya. In the 40 years I've been in the work place, one of the things I'ved learned is if you want to find the fastest, easiest way to do something, ask a lazy person to solve the problem. If you want to know the best way, ask an experienced person who's been doing it for a long time. Not saying your lazy, just that the easiest way is not allways the best way.HT SYSTEM-

Could you send me that last post by fax? My number is KLondike-5-1102.
Or maybe carrier pigeon is more your speed?
As for the rest of it... absolute nonsense. Your opinion is completely based on either your poor assumptions about how things work, or a complete lack of understanding of news stories about identity theft.
And just because something is new and efficient doesn't make me lazy, it makes me intelligent enough to know what "encryption" is and how to weigh risks vs. rewards, rather than living in the past because I'm afraid of new things.
And yes I realize this is completely contrary to my original post about online voting, but that is a completely different set of logistical concerns, not necessarily security ones.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
